Arlene E. Reynolds

Arlene E. Reynolds – (82) – of 13 West St., Hornell, died early Tuesday Morning (April 9, 2013) at the Taylor Health Care Facility in Bath, following a long illness.

A native and life resident of the Hornell area, she was born August 16, 1930, and was the daughter of Raymond & Anna (Grunups) Hocroft. 

Arlene was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1949).  Over the years she had been employed in several capacities, including supervisor at Loohns Cleaners, manager at Shorts Liquor Store in Alfred, and Nurses aid at the Hornell Nursing Home.  For many years she served as night manager at Steuben ARC, retiring in 1995.

Following her retirement, Arlene volunteered her time at Concern for Youth, the Kid’s Café, and as a “Foster Grandparent” for the kindergarten class at the North Hornell School.  She had been a member of the Woman’s Auxiliary of the Hornell VFW and the Hornell Alumni Association.

She was married to Edward Reynolds who died in 1979.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Ann Chapman who died in 1975 and Ruth Higgens who died in 2004.
 
Surviving are her son, Stephen (Judy) Cudoni of Bath; 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Cudoni, Cathy (Chris) Chapman, John (Lisa) Hoad and Joseph (Jeannie) Brewer; 1 great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Cregan; 2 great-grandsons, Brett & Jeff Chapman, nieces & nephews. 

The family of Arlene E. Reynolds will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 AM  until  1:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.  A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Hornell Rural Cemetery.

Arlene’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road , Hornell, NY 14843.  Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.
