Michael E. McMahon

Michael E. “Mike” McMahon – 68 – of 803 Karr Valley Rd., Almond, died Friday afternoon (September 20, 2013) at his home, following a long illness.

Born in Great Bend, KS on October 3, 1944, he was the son of Arthur & Genevieve (George) McMahon.

Mike grew up in almond and was a graduate of Alfred-Almond Central School (class of 1963).  He had been employed for a time at Snyder Electric in Almond, Stuart’s Pools in Almond and also at Wellsville Preheater.  For over 30 years, Mike worked at Foster-Wheeler Corporation in Dansville as a Welder & Boiler Tender.

In his younger years, Mike enjoyed hunting & fishing.  His greatest joy in life however was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He always loved attending their sporting events, plays, chorus recitals and band recitals.

He was married on April 8, 1967 to the former Cheryl Olin who survives.  Also surviving are 1 son, Shane (JoAnne) McMahon of Almond; 1 daughter, Shannon McMahon of Almond; 1 brother, Daniel (Arlene) McMahon of Almond; 1 sister, Helen (Stuart) Klausner of Hilton Head, SC; 4 grandchildren, Philip (Brittany) Sutton, Jamie Sutton-Reitnauer, Andrea McMahon and Jessica McMahon; many nieces, nephews & cousins.

The family of Michael E. “Mike” McMahon will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church, 6034 county Rt. 69, Canisteo, NY where a funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 5:00 PM with Rev. Edward Crandall officiating.  Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Almond, NY.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.

Mike’s family request that memorial contributions in his name be made to Allegany County Cancer Services, (Atention Lori Ballengee), 100 South Highland Ave., Wellsville, NY 14895 or to the Andover Lions Club, PO Box 772, Andover, NY 14806
