Jim and I got to be great friends in the past several years. Living just down the street on North Main Ext. He would drive in my driveway every time he would see me working in my garage or just outside. He’d get out of the car and the first thing he’d say to me is “Just checking on my Vet buddy” Then we would just talke about our military experience, our VA appointment or whatever the news of the day was. He also would bring me small projects to repair for him and the last project was his hand made walking stick, I gave it a nice face lift and topped it off with a US Army insignia. He loved it and said he showed it to everybody. If I wasn’t outside he’d always honk as he drove by and that happened several times a week. So that’s how I knew he wasn’t well because I hadn’t heard or seen him! The best thing he told me was that he had a large jar above his bed with names in it that he’d pray for every night before bed. I told him everytime time he would try to pay me, just put my name in your jar again to get a better chance of my prayers being answered!
My wife Jackie and I are going to miss you buddy, Sorry that we missed the services being out of town. RIP
