{"id":1115,"date":"2012-12-18T19:53:32","date_gmt":"2012-12-18T19:53:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=1115"},"modified":"2012-12-18T21:22:12","modified_gmt":"2012-12-18T21:22:12","slug":"john-n-floyd-dugo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=1115","title":{"rendered":"John N. &#8220;Floyd&#8221; Dugo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=1116\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1116\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1116\" title=\"Floyd Dugo Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Floyd-Dugo-Photo-250x373.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Floyd-Dugo-Photo-250x373.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Floyd-Dugo-Photo-200x298.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Floyd-Dugo-Photo-1024x1528.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Floyd-Dugo-Photo.jpg 1073w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>John N. \u201cFloyd\u201d Dugo \u2013 63 \u2013 of 6948 Dennis Ave. Ext., Hornell, died Monday afternoon (December 17, 2012) at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>A native &amp; life resident of Hornell, he was born July 23, 1949 and was the son of John &amp; Marie (Parmelee) Dugo.<\/p>\n<p>Floyd was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1967) where he excelled on the football field, playing for the Hornell Red Raiders.\u00a0 Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he honorably served his country from 1968 \u2013 1971.\u00a0 While stationed in Viet Nam, Floyd served in communications as a radio operator.\u00a0 During his military service, he received numerous medals, including the Viet Nam Cross Gallantry with Palm and the Combat Action Ribbon.<\/p>\n<p>He was employed for about 35 years at the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) as an engineer, retiring about 5 years ago.\u00a0 He was a member of the Hornell American Legion.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Floyd had been a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s church.\u00a0 He enjoyed stamp collecting and coin collecting.\u00a0 He was a Boston Red Sox fan and an avid NY Yankee HATER!!\u00a0 He also enjoyed rooting for the Buffalo Bills.\u00a0 Floyd enjoyed playing golf with his many friends and was a member of the Twin Hickory Golf Club.\u00a0 He was also an avid hunter &amp; fisherman.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his father, John Dugo who died in 1998.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his mother, Marie Dugo of Hornell; 1 sister, Lynn (Melvin) Cline of Almond; 2 brothers, Ben Dugo of Hornell and Dominic (Lori) Dugo of Jacksonville, NC; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces &amp; nephews. He will be especially missed by his loving &amp; trusted canine companion, Stimpy.<\/p>\n<p>The family of John N. \u201cFloyd\u201d Dugo will receive friends on Friday from 3:00 PM\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 6:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY where funeral &amp; committal services with full military honors will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.\u00a0 Burial will be in the Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Floyd\u2019s family request that memorial contributions in his name be made to the Disabled Veteran\u2019s Association, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n<p>In recognition of Floyd\u2019s service to his country during the Viet Nam conflict, the American Flag at the Dagon Funeral Home will be flown at half-staff.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>John N. \u201cFloyd\u201d Dugo \u2013 63 \u2013 of 6948 Dennis Ave. Ext., Hornell, died Monday afternoon (December 17, 2012) at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA following a long illness.
