LaFaro &#8211; (92) \u2013 a resident of Hornell Gardens, formerly of 13 Sawyer St. Site, Hornell, died early Monday morning (December 24, 2012) at Highland Hospital in Rochester, following a brief illness.<\/p>\n<p>A native &amp; livelong resident of Hornell, she was born March 6th, 1920, and was the daughter of George &amp; Anna (DeSteffano) LaFaro.\u00a0 Rose attended Bryant School and later Hornell High School.\u00a0 She had been employed as a dietitian\u2019s helper for about 5 years at the original Bethesda Hospital and later was employed as a cook for 28 years by several Hornell Restaurants, including the Hotel Sherwood, Ponce DeLeon and the Sunset Inn, retiring in 1979.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Rose was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0 She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sons of Italy (Italian-American Woman\u2019s Club), a member of the Hornell Grange, a member of the Legion of Mary and also a member of RSVP.\u00a0 Rose will be remembered for many things, including her wonderful sense of humor and, of course, her \u201cthree wheel bike.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph (died 1909), Joseph (died 1918), Hugh LaFaro, George LaFaro, Dominic LaFaro, Angelo LaFaro and Joseph \u201cSonny\u201d LaFaro; her sisters, Teresa Nasca, Congetta France, Josephine LoCoco, Vincena Trowbridge, Mary \u201cMamie\u201d Mastriani, Catherine Wilson and Lucille Fawcett.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are her sister, Anna Marie LoCoco of Hornell; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews &amp; cousins.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Rose M. LaFaro will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 PM &#8211; 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell.\u00a0 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Ann\u2019s Church with burial will be in St. Ann\u2019s Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Rose\u2019s family request that memorial contributions in her name be made to St. Ann\u2019s Church, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, NY 14843.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rose M.
