Griswold \u2013 (79) \u2013 formerly of 71 Church St. Court, Hornell, died Sunday morning (January 6, 2013) at McAuley Manor where he had resided for the past 6 years.<\/p>\n<p>A native &amp; life resident of Hornell, he was born January 13, 1933, and was the son of Harold &amp; Florence (Dougherty) Griswold.<\/p>\n<p>Paul was a graduate of Hornell High School and later received his Associate\u2019s Degree in Science from Alfred State College.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was employed for a short time at the former Erie Railroad and also the Hornell Evening Tribune.\u00a0 For many years he served as \u201cdesk clerk\u201d for the Hornell YMCA, retiring in 1982.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0 He was also a life member of the Hornell Knights of Columbus.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Paul was preceded in death by his brother James Griswold; his sisters Betty Cipola and Rosemary Argentieri; his sister-in-law, Genevieve Griswold.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are 2 brothers, Robert Griswold of Hornell and Donald Griswold of Alfred; 1 sister, Margaret \u201cPeg\u201d Griswold of Hornell; his sister-in-law, Ruth Griswold of Hornell; brother-in-law, Mike Cipola of Hornell; many nieces, nephews and cousins.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Paul E. Griswold will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 PM \u2013 8:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at St. Ann\u2019s Church with burial in St. Mary\u2019s Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Paul\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, NY 14843.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Paul E.
