Ryan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=1337\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1337\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1337\" title=\"Dorothy Ryan Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Dorothy-Ryan-Photo-250x271.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"271\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Dorothy-Ryan-Photo-250x271.jpeg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Dorothy-Ryan-Photo-200x217.jpeg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Dorothy-Ryan-Photo.jpeg 761w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>Dorothy E. \u201cDottie\u201d Ryan \u2013 62 \u2013 of 27 Wallingford Ave., Wallingford, PA, formerly of Hornell, died Thursday evening (July 4, 2013) at her home, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on March 27, 1951, she was the daughter of Arnold &amp; Della (Cuda) Daniels.<\/p>\n<p>Dottie was a graduate of St. Ann\u2019s School and later graduated from Hornell High School (class of 1969).\u00a0 In 1972 she received her Registered Nurses License following her graduation from St. Joseph\u2019s Hospital School of Nursing in Elmira.<\/p>\n<p>For about 20 years, Dottie was employed as a registered nurse at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, primarily in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).\u00a0 She later served as assistant director of nursing at a long term nursing facility in Wellsville and also as a dialysis nurse in the dialysis unit at St. James Hospital.\u00a0 For about 12 years, Dorothy served as a psychiatry nurse with the Steuben County Mental Health Clinic in Bath.\u00a0 She retired in May, 2012 due to ill health.<\/p>\n<p>Dottie was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0 She was an avid reader and was a longtime fan of the Buffalo Bills.\u00a0 Her greatest joy in life, however, was simply enjoying her time spent with family &amp; friends.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are 2 daughters, Katie (Dane) Czaplicki of Rose Valley, PA and Erin Ryan of Oceanside, CA; 1 brother, Francis (Susan) Daniels of Dover, DE; her former husband, Daniel Ryan of Corning; 2 granddaughters, Samantha Czaplicki &amp; Katherine Czaplicki; several nieces, nephews &amp; cousins.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Dorothy E. \u201cDottie\u201d Ryan will receive friends on Friday (July 12, 2013) from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday (July 13, 2013) at 1:00 PM at St. Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0 A gathering of family &amp; friends will follow at the Hornell Sons of Italy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dorothy E. \u201cDottie\u201d Ryan \u2013 62 \u2013 of 27 Wallingford Ave., Wallingford, PA, formerly of Hornell, died Thursday evening (July 4, 2013) at her home, following a long illness.
