Crandall \u2013 (89) \u2013 of 385 Fairview Ave., Hornell, died early Wednesday morning (September 18, 2013) at St. James Mercy Hospital following a brief illness.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Born in Pittston, PA on May 17, 1924, she was the daughter of William &amp; Beatrice (Flynn) Arvidson.\u00a0 She has resided in Hornell since the age of five.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Anne grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1943).\u00a0 Throughout the years she had been employed as a sales clerk at Tuttle &amp; Rockwell Department Store, Triangle Shoe Store and JC Penny\u2019s.\u00a0 For 11 years she worked in the \u201ccommunication\u2019s department\u201d of St. James Mercy Hospital, arranging for patients television &amp; telephone hook-ups.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0 She also was a member on the St. James Hospital Auxiliary.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Anne touched many lives and was loved by many.\u00a0 She will be sadly missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Anne was preceded in death by her son, James E. Crandall who died in 1999; 1 sister, Mary \u201cMae\u201d McLaughlin; 1 brother Jack Arvidson; her great-great granddaughter, Hannah Logan.<\/p>\n<p>She was married on July 29, 1946 to Charles Richard \u201cDick\u201d Crandall who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are 2 daughters, Dianne (Randy) Tyner of Bradford, NY and Mary Ellen (Joe) Dropp of Hornell; 2 sons, Richard \u201cRick\u201d (Marcia) Crandall of Hartsville and Steven (Sharon) Crandall of Hartsville; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Anne M. Crandall will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the <strong>Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 <\/strong>A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Ann\u2019s Church with burial in St. Mary\u2019s Cemetery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anne M.
