Sexton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=1408\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1408\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1408\" title=\"Joseph Sexton Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Joseph-Sexton-Photo-250x326.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"326\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Joseph-Sexton-Photo-250x326.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Joseph-Sexton-Photo-200x261.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Joseph-Sexton-Photo.jpg 630w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>Joseph P. \u201cJoe\u201d Sexton \u2013 51 \u2013 of Jamestown, NY, formerly of Hornell, died unexpectedly on Friday (September 27, 2013) in Jamestown.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on May 5, 1962, he was the son of Thomas &amp; Kathleen (Conkey) Sexton.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Joe grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1980).\u00a0 While in high school, Joe excelled in sports &#8212; playing baseball &amp; basketball for the Hornell Red Raiders.\u00a0 He actually pitched a perfect game (no player reaching first base) while playing in the Hornell Babe Ruth League.<\/p>\n<p>He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving his country from 1982-1984 primarily being stationed in Germany.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Following his discharge from the Air Force, Joe returned to Hornell where he resided for several years and has lived in Jamestown for the past 15 years.\u00a0 Joe had been a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ignatius Loyola Church.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>While living in Jamestown, he was employed as a drill press operator for a local company for about 3 years retiring after suffering a devastating industrial accident.<\/p>\n<p>Joe was a sports enthusiast and love watching sporting events on television, especially baseball, basketball &amp; football.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Sexton who died in 1995.<\/p>\n<p>Joe was married to the former Patricia \u201cTrish\u201d Buono who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are his daughter, Danielle (Chris) Brewer of Hornell; his son, Joseph (Valerie) Sexton of Hornell; his mother, Kathleen Sexton of Hornell; his sister, Joan (Jim) Lecceardone of Hornell; his brother, James (Teresa) Sexton of Hornell; 3 grandsons, Logan Sexton, Damien Sexton and Christian Brewer; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Joseph P. \u201cJoe\u201d Sexton will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 PM \u2013 6:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY where a Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.<\/p>\n<p>In recognition of Joe\u2019s military service, the American Flag at the Dagon Funeral Home will be flown at half-staff.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Joseph P. \u201cJoe\u201d Sexton \u2013 51 \u2013 of Jamestown, NY, formerly of Hornell, died unexpectedly on Friday (September 27, 2013) in Jamestown.
