She had resided in Hornell since the age of three.<\/p>\n<p>Maradean attended Hornell High School and had been employed at the former Big Elms Restaurant where she baked all of the pastries, pies, cakes, breads and rolls. For nearly 10 years, she was employed at J.C. Penny\u2019s in Hornell as a sales clerk in the children\u2019s department.\u00a0 She also worked in the cafeteria of the Hornell Intermediate School.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nRecently she resided at Updyke\u2019s Willow Ridge Rest Home.<\/p>\n<p>Nonnie was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of Saint Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0 She enjoyed working in her yard, but mostly loved spending time with her family, especially her\u00a0 grandchildren and great grandchildren.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Maradean\u00a0 was preceded in death\u00a0 by her husband , Arlie Harwood SR, who died in 1974; her son Gary Joseph Harwood who died in 1955; her 3 brothers\u00a0 Donald Harold, Keith Harold and Rodney Harold.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are her 2 daughters, Carole (Bob) Egan of Harrisburg, Pa and Mary Jo (Dr Thomas) Foreman of Myrtle Beach, SC; her 2 sons, Arlie (Glenda) Harwood JR of Homosassa, FL and David (Sharon) Harwood\u00a0 SR of Hornell; 10 grandchildren\u00a0 and 11 great grandchildren, several nieces &amp; nephews, including her beloved\u00a0 Rockwell (Kathleen) Harwood JR.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Maradean E. Harwood will receive friends on Friday from 4 \u2013 7 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday at St. Ann\u2019s Church with burial in Rural Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Maradean\u2019s family request that memorial contributions in her name be made to St. Jude\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dep\u2019t 300, Memphis, TN 38148.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Memorial-contribution-Maradean-Harwood.pdf\">click here<\/a>\u00a0to print a contribution form.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maradean E. \u201cNonnie\u201d Harwood \u2013 (89) \u2013 formerly of 7360 North Main St. Ext., died Wednesday morning (November 20, 2013) at the Wellsville Manor, following a long illness.
