Hendee \u2013 82 \u2013 8063 Route 21, Hornell (Town of Fremont) died early Tuesday morning (January 21, 2014) at St. James Mercy Hospital following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Pennsylvania on November 29, 1931, she was the daughter of Albert &amp; Doris Young.<\/p>\n<p>Lois grew up in the Canaseraga \u2013 Arkport area and was a graduate of Arkport Central School (class of 1949).\u00a0 She later earned her Associate\u2019s Degree from Alfred State College (class of 1951).<\/p>\n<p>In her younger years, Lois had been employed as a Lab Technician at Dansville Hospital, Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester and at the former Karl Clinic in Hornell.<\/p>\n<p>She was married on December 31, 1955 to Jack Hendee who survives.\u00a0 Along with her husband, Lois was active in the day-to-day operation of Hendee Homestead Dairy Farm in Fremont.\u00a0 She also enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, cooking &amp; baking for her family &amp; neighbors.<\/p>\n<p>Lois was preceded in death by her brothers, Lyle Young &amp; Richard Young; her daughter-in-law, Theresa Hendee; sister-in-law, Janet Young;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to her husband, Jack, survivors include 4 sons, Sam (Kate) Hendee of Hornell, Dave (Sue) Hendee of Almond, Jack (Linda) Hendee of Hornell and Joe Hendee of Prattsburgh; her sister, Shirley (Don \u201cRed\u201d) Stewart of Dansville; her sister-in-law, Karen Young; 9 grandchildren; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Lois J. Hendee will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 PM \u2013 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.<\/p>\n<p>Lois\u2019 family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the Fremont Fire Department, PO Box 462, Arkport, NY 14807.\u00a0 Memorial contributions will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Lois-Hendee.pdf\">click here <\/a>to print\u00a0a form.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lois J.
