\"\"<\/a>Judy A. Murphy \u2013 67 \u2013 of 396 Karr Valley Rd., Almond, died late Sunday evening (March 30, 2014 at the Vincent House in Wayland, surrounded by her loving family and following a long illness.<\/p>\n

Born in Hornell on October 6, 1946, she was the daughter of Charles & Marion (Hoffman) Henshaw.<\/p>\n

Judy grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1964).\u00a0 She was a former member of St. Ignatius Loyola Church and most recently attended St. Ann\u2019s Church.<\/p>\n

Having a deep love of children, Judy operated \u201cJudy\u2019s Day Care\u201d for about 20 years, retiring about 10 years ago.\u00a0 She lived the these words: \u201cOne hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house that I live in or the kind of car that I drove.\u00a0 But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child\u201d (author unknown).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Judy enjoyed working on her home — not only basic up-keep, but also major construction & remodeling.\u00a0 This included the planning phase, purchasing of materials and actual construction.\u00a0 She also was an avid gardener and loved working in her flower garden, vegetable garden and planting trees in her yard.<\/p>\n

She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas M. Murphy who died in 1987; her grandson, Connor Patrick Murphy who died in 2007 and her sister, Diane Helgerson.<\/p>\n

Judy was married on March 20, 1965 to Thomas \u201cTom\u201d Murphy who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are
\n2 sons, David Murphy of Hornell and John (Kelly) Murphy of Hornell; 1 daughter, Kelly (Maryann Cryan) Murphy of Hornell; 2 brothers, Charles (Anna) Henshaw of Kingman, AZ and Ronald (Josephine) Henshaw of Crossville, TN; 1 sister, Marlene (Richard) Abbott of Belmont, NY; 4 granddaughters, Kaley Murphy, Delaney Murphy, Madison Murphy and Melissa Murphy; several nieces & nephews.<\/p>\n

The family of Judy A. Murphy will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday at St. Ann\u2019s Church with burial in St. Mary\u2019s Cemetery.<\/p>\n

The Murphy family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Vincent House in Wayland for making Judy\u2019s last days on earth comfortable and pain free.\u00a0 Their kindness will never be forgotten.<\/p>\n
