Studley \u2013 (61) \u2013 of 13 Main St., Almond, died Monday afternoon (March 31, 2014) at his home, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in North Hornell on April 15, 1952, he was the son of Richard &amp; Eileen (Alexander) Studley.<\/p>\n<p>Dave grew up in Almond and attended Alfred-Almond Central School.\u00a0 He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving his country from 1969-1971 and again from 1973-1975.\u00a0 While in the US Navy, he was stationed in Naples, Italy running supplies to Navy ships in the Mediterranean Sea.<\/p>\n<p>He worked for a time on the \u201crail gangs\u201d at the former Erie Lackawanna Railroad and Conrail; as an electrician at Alfred University; and for Steuben County Buildings &amp; Grounds.\u00a0 For nearly 40 years Dave was employed as a truck driver for several local businesses including Crowley\u2019s Dairy, Covered Wagon, Southern Tier Concrete, Giles Trucking, Wegmans Express and AL Blades.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Dave was a life member &amp; past commander of Hornell AMVETS where he served as a representative for Veterans Association of Volunteer Services.\u00a0 He was also a former member of the Arkport American Legion and the Hornell Eagles Club.<\/p>\n<p>For many years, Dave enjoyed bowling, golfing and hunting.\u00a0 He also was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed camping.<\/p>\n<p>He\u00a0is married to the former Laurel Woolgar-Turner who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are 1 daughter, Rebecca (Barb Collette) Studley of Popular Bluff, MO; 1 son, Michael (Brittany) Studley of Almond; 3 step-sons, Thomas (Tonya) Turner of Hornell, Jason (Michelle Magallanes) Turner of Almond and Sean (Jenalee) Turner of Howard; 1 sister, Cheryl McDaniel of Almond; 12 grandchildren, Tom IV, Joshua, Zachary, Chloe, Kayla, Kade, Nicholas, Alyssa, Carson, Emmy, Adelaide &amp; Meredith; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of David J. Studley will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 PM \u2013 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY where funeral &amp; committal services with full military honors will be held on Sunday at 3:00 PM with Pastor Steve Dygert officiating.\u00a0 Burial will be in the Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Dave\u2019s family request that memorial contributions in his name be made to the AMVETS, Broadway Mall, Hornell, NY 14843.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/David-Studley.pdf\">click here<\/a> to print a form.<\/p>\n<p>In recognition of Dave\u2019s service to his country, the American Flag at the Dagon Funeral Home will be flown at half-staff.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>David J.
