Karns &#8211; (99) \u2013 formerly of 22 East Ave., Arkport died\u00a0 Friday afternoon (april 4, 2014) at Hornell Gardens, where she had resided for the past five years.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Dansville, NY, on March 15, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Clara VanDurme.\u00a0 She was a graduate of Dansville Central School and the Federal Commercial School of Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>In 1939, she was married to Earl S. Karns who died on March 27, 1998.\u00a0 She, along with her husband, owned &amp; operated Karns\u2019 Repair Shop in Arkport.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In addition to her husband and parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her son, John Karns; 4 brothers, John VanDurme, Raymond VanDurme, Louis VanDurme and Nick VanDurme; 2 sisters, Mary Hurlburt and Alice Randall; her son-in-law, Douglas FitzMaurice; her step-son-in-law, Don Roach; along with several in-laws<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are four daughters, Sandra (Ralph) Rice of Addison, Nancy FitzMaurice of Virginia,\u00a0 Peggy Williams of Fremont, and Susan (William) Wyant of Waterloo, NY; one son, James (Linda) Karns of Wellsville; 1 step daughter, Patricia Roach; 1 sister, Loretta Daniels of Dansville; 3 brothers, Richard VanDurme, Larry VanDurme, Phil VanDurme, all of Dansville; her daughter-in-law, Roma Karns of Ontario, NY; several in-laws, grandchildren; great-grandchildren great-great-grandchildren; nieces &amp; nephews.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>There will be no prior calling hours.\u00a0 Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday (April 10, 2014) at10:30 AM at St. Ann\u2019s Church in Hornell.\u00a0 Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Margaret\u2019s name may be made to either St. Ann\u2019s Church or to the charity of the donor\u2019s choice.\u00a0 To print a memorial form, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Margaret-Karns.pdf\">click here<\/a>.\u00a0 Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Margaret M.
