Dries \u2013 59 \u2013 of Rochester, NY, formerly of Arkport, died Thursday (April 3, 2014, at Rochester General Hospital, following a brief illness.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on June 21, 1954, he was the son of Gerald &amp; Sara (Williams) Dries.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce grew up in Arkport and attended Arkport Central School.\u00a0 He left high school to join the US Marine Corp, serving his country for 4 years.\u00a0 While in the Marines, he obtained his GED Certification.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Following his discharge from the Marines, Bruce resided for several years in Pennsylvania before returning to Arkport where he lived for about 10 years.\u00a0 He has resided in Rochester for the past 11 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bruce was a former member of Our Lady of the Valley parish and a communicant ofSt. Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Dries who died in 2003.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his girlfriend, Debra Gomez with whom he resided; his daughter, Brittany Dries-Patterson of Virginia; 2 sons, Nicholas Dries of Clearwater, FL and Timothy Dries, a member of the US Army, stationed in Colorado and is deployed in Afghanistan; his mother, Sara Dries of Arkport; 2 brothers, David Dries of Shoemakersville and Ed (Fiama) Dries of Italy, PA; 1 sister, Susan (Lewis) Woodvine of Arkport; several aunts, uncles, nieces &amp; nephews.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The family of Bruce T. Dries will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 PM \u2013 6:00 PM at the <strong>Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY, <\/strong>where a Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.\u00a0 Final interment will be in the Bath National Cemetery.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In honor of Bruce\u2019s service to his country as a member of the US Army, the American Flag at the Dagon Funeral Home will be flown at half-staff.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bruce T.
