Davies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=1663\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1663\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1663\" title=\"Kenneth Davies Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Kenneth-Davies-Photo1-250x316.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Kenneth-Davies-Photo1-250x316.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Kenneth-Davies-Photo1-200x253.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Kenneth-Davies-Photo1.jpg 319w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>Kenneth P. \u201cKen\u201d Davies \u2013 74 \u2013 of 9582 State Route 36, Arkport, died Sunday evening (April 20, 2014) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Rochester on August 1, 1939, he was the son of Leonard &amp; Alberta (Miller) Davies.<\/p>\n<p>Ken grew up in the Rochester area of Irondequoit and was a graduate of Edison Tech High School (class of 1957).\u00a0 He attended the University of Miami in Miami, FL where he played (as a running back) for the Miami Hurricane football team.\u00a0 After being sidelined by an injury on the football field, Ken joined the US Marine Corp, serving his country from 1959-1963.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Following his honorable discharge from the Marines, Ken served as an insurance investigator for 19 years for Equifax of Rochester, NY.\u00a0 In the mid 1980\u2019s, he built Gazebo Golf in Hornell, featuring a miniature golf course along with a driving range.\u00a0 He owned &amp; operated the business for about five years.\u00a0 In the late 1980\u2019s he built another miniature golf course \/ driving range called PK Putters in Geneva, NY.\u00a0 He operated the business until the time of his death.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Ken was a true sports enthusiast.\u00a0 He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed fishing.\u00a0 In his younger years, Ken loved bowling and had been a member of several bowling leagues in Hornell.\u00a0 He also enjoyed watching sporting events on TV and loved rooting for the NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots.\u00a0 His greatest joy, however, was attending his grandchildren\u2019s sporting events.<\/p>\n<p>He was married on November 23, 1968 to the former Sharon Conwell who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are his daughter, Rebecca (David) Jeffery of Cheshire, CT; 2 grandsons, Michael Jeffery and Matthew Jeffery; 4 brothers, Leonard (Rosemarie) Davies of Bergen, NY, James (Alicia) Davies of Ontario, NY, Robert Davies of Webster, NY and Lawrence (Kathleen) Davies of Webster, NY; his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Conwell and Jean Coddington; along with several nieces, nephews &amp; cousins.<\/p>\n<p>At Ken\u2019s request there will be no prior calling hours.\u00a0 A memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Michael\u2019s Church in Penn Yan, NY with Fr.
