{"id":1682,"date":"2014-05-08T19:12:53","date_gmt":"2014-05-08T19:12:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=1682"},"modified":"2014-05-08T20:16:16","modified_gmt":"2014-05-08T20:16:16","slug":"jean-paul-mauro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=1682","title":{"rendered":"Jean Paul Mauro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=1683\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1683\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1683\" title=\"Helen Jean Mauro Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Helen-Jean-Mauro-Photo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"213\" height=\"259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Helen-Jean-Mauro-Photo.jpg 213w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Helen-Jean-Mauro-Photo-200x243.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 213px) 100vw, 213px\" \/><\/a>Jean Paul Mauro \u2013\u00a0 83 \u2013 of 94 East Main St., Hornell, died early Thursday morning (May 8, 2014) at her home, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>She was born in Hornell on October 23, 1930 as Helen Jean Paul, but was known as Jean.\u00a0 She was the daughter of Edmund &amp; Mary (Ciancaglini) Paul.<\/p>\n<p>Jean grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1950).\u00a0 While in high school, she served as secretary of her class in her sophomore, junior, and senior years and was a member of the National Honor Society.\u00a0 During her high school years, she was employed at the former Elmhurst Dairy and also worked as a secretary for Cameron Insurance of Hornell.\u00a0 Following high school, Jean was employed as a telephone operator for Bell telephone for about 5 years.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the years, she resided in several locations, including Dansville (about 12 years), Texas (about 5 years) and Williamsport, PA (17 years), returning to Hornell 15 years ago.\u00a0 She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s Church.<\/p>\n<p>Jean was very artistic and had many interests including cooking &amp; baking.\u00a0 She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, needle-work, oil painting and furniture re-finishing.\u00a0 Jean had a deep affection for music (especially classical music) and had a special love for the piano which she also played.\u00a0 While living in Texas, she enjoyed working with ceramics.<\/p>\n<p>She thoroughly enjoyed her home and was a wonderful and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother &amp; great-grandmother.<\/p>\n<p>Jean was married on May 10, 1952 to Carl A. Mauro who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are 2 sons, Steven Mauro of Williamsport, PA and Carl Mauro of White Fish, MT; 2 daughters, Mary Strauss of Rockwall, TX and Lucy Mauro of Morgantown, WV; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Jean Mauro will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 PM \u2013 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 AM at St. Ann\u2019s Church with Fr.
