Solo \u2013 (85) \u2013 of 106 Elizabeth St., Hornell, died Tuesday morning (May 20, 2014) at McAuley Manor following a brief illness.<\/p>\n<p>A native &amp; life resident of Hornell, she was born May 1, 1929, and was the daughter of Frank &amp; Mary (Falco) Miller.<\/p>\n<p>Lucy was a graduate of St. Ann\u2019s School and later graduated from Hornell High School (Class of 1949).\u00a0 Following high school she earned her beautician\u2019s license from Continental School of Cosmetology in Buffalo.\u00a0 In 1950 Lucy began working as a beautician at Pat Rapp Beauty Salon and within one year purchased the business, re-naming it LuAnn\u2019s Beauty Shop.\u00a0\u00a0 She owned &amp; operated the business for the next 51 years.<\/p>\n<p>She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0 She was also a member of AZB Sorority.<\/p>\n<p>Lucy was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Joseph Miller, Anthony \u201cTony\u201d Miller and Neil \u201cEd\u201d Miller; 3 sisters, Rose Schiavi, Ann Miller and Janet \u201cJennie\u201d Grassi.<\/p>\n<p>She was married on July 21, 1951 to Francis \u201cJoe\u201d Solo who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are 1 daughter, Judy (Steve) Lamb of Hornell; 2 sons, Fran Solo of Endicott, NY and Christopher Solo of Endicott, NY; 4 grandchildren, Amy (Phil) Quattrini, Matthew Lamb, Erik (Samantha) Solo and Emily Solo; 2 great-grandchildren, Logan Quattrini &amp; Makenzi Quattrini; 1 great-grandson \u201con the way\u201d; along with several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Lucy M. Solo will receive friends on Friday from 5:00 PM \u2013 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Ann\u2019s Church with burial in St. Ann\u2019s Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Lucy\u2019s family request that memorial contributions in her name be made to St. Ann\u2019s Church, 27 Erie Ave., Hornell, NY 14843.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Lucy-Solo.pdf\">click here<\/a> to print a form.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lucy M.
