Pollizi \u2013 (77) \u2013 of 106 Hornell St., Hornell, died early Monday morning (July 28, 2014) at his home, following a brief illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on March 8, 1937, he was the son of Anthony &amp; Rose (Changose) Pollizi.<\/p>\n<p>Francis grew up in Hornell and attended Hornell High School.\u00a0 He was employed for 52 years in many capacities at the former Stern &amp; Stern Industries, retiring in 2008 as a weaver.<\/p>\n<p>He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s Church where he served as an usher for many years.\u00a0 For 10 years, Francis volunteered his time at the annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner at Billy Schu\u2019s Restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>Francis will be remembered as a true \u201cFamily Man\u201d.\u00a0 He was a caring and devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather &amp; great-grandfather.\u00a0 He was extremely proud of his entire family and in recent years took great joy in his grandchildren &amp; great-grandchildren.\u00a0 He always had a smile on his face and never had a cruel word to say.\u00a0 He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In addition to his parents, Fran was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Gary Norton and Richard Norton.<\/p>\n<p>He was married on May 4, 1956 to the former Barbara Norton who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are 3 sons, Michael (Kelley) Pollizi of Hornell, Thomas (Margaret) Pollizi of Rochester and Timothy (Becki) Pollizi of Canisteo; 4 daughters, Deborah Stauffer of Ft. Myers, FL, Rose (Richard) Bartlett of Hornell, Mary Houghtaling of Hornell and Lori (Mark) Corso of Arkport; 1 sister, Carol (Mike) Terrigino of Rochester; his in-laws, Sandy &amp; Joe Morey of Arkport, Jackie &amp; Harry McChestney of Susquehanna, PA, Patricia Norton of Dansville, Nancy Norton of Scio and John &amp; rose Hendrickson of Susquehanna, PA; 19 grandchildren, Anthony Pollizi, Joseph Pollizi, Sydney Pollizi, Melissa Stauffer, April Wheeler, Amanda Huckabee, Nicole Hayes, Shelby Bartlett, Jeremy Pollizi, Steven Pollizi, Rochelle Houghtaling, Ryan Pollizi, Brittany Pollizi, Justin Pollizi, Brooke Lovell, Brandon Pollizi, Bethany (Joe) Gayhart, Brandon Mills &amp; Zack Mills; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Francis J. Pollizi will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 PM \u2013 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Ann\u2019s Church with final interment in St. Mary\u2019s Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Francis\u2019 family request that memorial contributions in his name be made to Care First Hospice, 11751 East Corning Rd., Corning, NY\u00a0 14830.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Francis-Pollizi.pdf\">click here<\/a> to print a form.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Francis J.
