{"id":1989,"date":"2015-03-15T17:55:13","date_gmt":"2015-03-15T17:55:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=1989"},"modified":"2015-03-17T12:25:50","modified_gmt":"2015-03-17T12:25:50","slug":"genevieve-june-dapice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=1989","title":{"rendered":"Genevieve &#8220;June&#8221; D&#8217;Apice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=1990\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1990\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-1990\" title=\"June D'apice Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/June-Dapice-Photo-200x223.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"223\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/June-Dapice-Photo-200x223.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/June-Dapice-Photo-250x278.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/June-Dapice-Photo.jpg 739w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>Genevieve \u201cJune\u201d D\u2019Apice \u2013 (90) \u2013 formerly of 7294 North Main St. Ext., Hornell, died Saturday afternoon (March 14, 2015) at Hornell Gardens where she had resided for the past 3 years.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Elmer, PA on June 3, 1924, she was the daughter of Charles &amp; Jenny (VanPelt) Cole.<\/p>\n<p>June grew up in the Canisteo \u2013 Adrian area and was a graduate of Canisteo Central School.\u00a0 She had been employed for several years at the former Dunn\u2019s Drug Store where she served as manager of the fountain.\u00a0 She later worked in many capacities at Woolworth\u2019s Department Store where she especially enjoyed decorating the Easter Candy.\u00a0 June had been employed at Modern Cleaners in Hornell and for about 14 years ran the Snack Counter at the Hornell Bowl.\u00a0 Most recently she helped out at D\u2019Apice Market which was located on the corner of River St. &amp; John St. in Hornell.<\/p>\n<p>As an avid animal lover, June enjoyed feeding the neighborhood dogs &amp; cats and also loved feeding the birds.<\/p>\n<p>June was married on October 24, 1945 to Robert D\u2019Apice who died December 2, 2008.\u00a0 She was also preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Matthew Luke D\u2019Apice and Randy D\u2019Apice; 2 brothers, Charles Cole &amp; Walter Cole; 3 sisters, Marie Howland, Virginia Cotton &amp; Maple Cole.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Surviving are 1 daughter, Anna Baker of Hornell; 3 sons, Robert (Pat) D\u2019Apice of Arkport, Randy (Connie) D\u2019Apice of Hornell and Andrew D\u2019Apice of Arkport; 4 grandchildren, Peter Persichilli, Crystal (Rob) Henshaw, Deanna D\u2019Apice &amp; Daniel D\u2019Apice; 2 great-grandchildren, Jacob Henshaw and Chloee Henshaw; several nieces &amp; nephews including her \u201cspecial niece&#8221;, Sue Campbell.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Genevieve \u201cJune\u201d D\u2019Apice will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until<br \/>\n6:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY, where funeral &amp; committal services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.\u00a0 Burial will be in the VA Cemetery, Bath, NY.<\/p>\n<p>June\u2019s family request that memorial contributions in her name be made to the Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY 14843.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Genevieve-June-DApice.pdf\">click here<\/a> to print a form.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Genevieve \u201cJune\u201d D\u2019Apice \u2013 (90) \u2013 formerly of 7294 North Main St. Ext., Hornell, died Saturday afternoon (March 14, 2015) at Hornell Gardens where she had resided for the past 3 years.
