Ahearn \u2013 (77) \u2013 of 614 Pine Knoll Park, Arkport, died unexpectedly early Wednesday morning (May 20, 2015) at St. James Mercy Hospital, where she was taken by ambulance after being stricken at home.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on May 5, 1938, she was the daughter of John &amp; Delilia (Edwards) Muchler.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Marilyn grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1957).\u00a0 Throughout the years, Marilyn lived in Hornell, Campbell (for about 4 years) and has resided in Arkport since 1999.<\/p>\n<p>While in high school, Marilyn worked at the former June\u2019s Ice Cream Store.\u00a0 Following her high school graduation, she was employed for several years as a cashier at the former Loblaw\u2019s Grocery Store in Hornell.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Leaving the \u201cwork force\u201d for several years to begin raising her family, she began working at Steuben Trust Company in 1975 as a bank teller, retiring in 2000 after 25 years of service.<\/p>\n<p>Marilyn was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and going for daily walks (before it became \u201cfashionable\u201d).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She was married on September 14, 1957 to William F. \u201cBill\u201d Ahearn who died in 1989.\u00a0 She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Muchler; 3 sisters, her twin, Carolyn Schryver, Adeline Duell and Gladys Schubmehl.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are 2 daughters, Mary (Dwight) Smith of Arkport and Elizabeth Smith of Arkport; 2 sons, William F. (Kathy) Ahearn JR of West Henrietta and Kevin (Leslie) Ahearn of Carlin, NV; 1 sister, Pauline Stricker of Binghamton; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Marilyn J. Ahearn will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 PM \u2013 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY where funeral &amp; committal services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 7:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.\u00a0 Burial will be in St. Mary\u2019s Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Marilyn\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the charity of the donor\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marilyn J.
