{"id":2149,"date":"2015-08-24T11:18:20","date_gmt":"2015-08-24T11:18:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=2149"},"modified":"2015-09-01T12:19:09","modified_gmt":"2015-09-01T12:19:09","slug":"dr-ibrahim-al-sinjari","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=2149","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Ibrahim Al-Sinjari"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=2160\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2160\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2160\" title=\"Al-Sinjari\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Al-Sinjari.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"185\" \/><\/a>Dr. Ibrahim Al-Sinjari \u2013 82 \u2013 of 437 Seneca Road, North Hornell, died unexpectedly Saturday evening (August 22, 2015) at his home.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Mosul, Iraq on March 10, 1933, he was the son of Yahya &amp; Fakhreya Al-Sinjari.<\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim resided in Mosul, Iraq from 1933-1951 when he moved to Istanbul, Turkey to attend the University of Istanbul.\u00a0 There he began his Undergrad Education and later Medical School, graduating in 1958.\u00a0 Dr. Al-Sinjari returned to Mosul in 1958 where he resided and began his career, serving the people of Mosul for the next 10 years.\u00a0 While living in Iraq, he served in the Iraqi Army.<\/p>\n<p>In 1968, Dr. Al-Sinjari moved to Cleveland, OH where he lived for two years before moving to Washington, DC in 1970 to begin serving his residency at Howard University.\u00a0 He completed his residency and orthopedic fellowship in 1972 and continued working in Washington until moving to Hornell in 1974.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For 40 years, Dr. Al-Sinjari has served the medical needs of the Hornell \u2013 Dansville Area.\u00a0 From 1975-2000, he worked tirelessly at St. James Mercy Hospital where he served on numerous boards &amp; committees and from 1975-2013 was employed at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Al-Sinjari was a beloved father and a very hardworking man.\u00a0 Dr. Al-Sinjari came to the United States in 1968 with the clothes on his back, a wife and two sons, not knowing any English.\u00a0 He worked very hard to become a surgeon and provided for his family.\u00a0\u00a0 He was the consummate professional and loved his craft.\u00a0 He was a great man!\u00a0\u00a0 His family and friends will forever admire his work ethic.\u00a0 He was an avid reader; enjoyed watching the news; enjoyed taking his daily walks; loved grilling; and will be fondly remembered for telling jokes.\u00a0 His favorite joke was \u201cWhat does Bob Hope say? There is hope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his son, Faris Al-Sinjari.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his wife, Akhtar; 3 sons, Khalid, Ali and Omar; his brother, Hasham Al-Sinjari.<\/p>\n<p>As per the Islamic faith, Dr. Al-Sinjari was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, NY next to his son Faris Al-Sinjari.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The family of Dr. Ibrahim Al-Sinjari request that in lieu of sending flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to the Islamic Associate of the Finger Lakes (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iaflcenter.org\/\">www.iaflcenter.org<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements were in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Ibrahim Al-Sinjari \u2013 82 \u2013 of 437 Seneca Road, North Hornell, died unexpectedly Saturday evening (August 22, 2015) at his home.
