Bossard \u2013 84 \u2013 of 7685 Reservoir Rd, Hornell (Town of Fremont) died Thursday morning (January 7, 2016) at home, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>A native &amp; life resident of Hornell, he was born June 27, 1931 and was the son of Roy &amp; Florence (Jaynes) Bossard.<\/p>\n<p>Glen was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1948) and later worked on the L.O. Bossard Dairy Farm (owned by his uncle).<\/p>\n<p>In 1955, he began working for New York Telephone Company which later became Bell Atlantic and finally Verizon.\u00a0 Throughout the years Glen was employed as a lineman, specialist, cable splicer, installer &amp; repairman, retiring in 1991.<\/p>\n<p>Glen was a member of the Telephone Pioneer\u2019s Union and was a former member of the Hornell Moose Lodge.\u00a0 He enjoyed playing cards, especially poker &amp; euchre and was a member of a local card club.\u00a0 Glen enjoyed the outdoors (especially the winter months) and was a member of several snowmobile clubs.\u00a0 In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his son, Steven \u201cBoz\u201d Bossard who died in 2002; his daughter, Catherine \u201cCathy\u201d Bossard who died in 2006; 2 sisters, Ruth Kame and Mildred \u201cMillie\u201d Flaherty; and his brother, Merle Bossard.<\/p>\n<p>Glen was married on January 25, 1953 to the former Mary Dixon who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are 2 sons, Richard \u201cDick\u201d (Nancy Kull) Bossard of Almond and Brett (Kerry) Bossard of Ithaca; 1 daughter, Barbara \u201cBarb\u201d (Ron) Hilsdorf of Fremont; daughter-in-law, Julie Bossard; 6 grandchildren, Rachel Bossard, Natalie Bossard, Becky Bossard, Katie Bossard, Sarah (Dan) McManus and Rian Hilsdorf; 3 great-grandchildren, Conrad Meyer, Logan Johnson and Macheyenne Johnson; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Glen A. Bossard will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY where funeral services will be held on Monday at11:00 AM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.\u00a0 Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Glen\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to either the Cathy Bossard Scholarship Fund, C\/O Hornell Alumni Association, PO Box 135, Hornell, NY 14843 or to the Fremont Fire &amp; Ambulance, State Route 21, Stephens Mills, NY 14843.
