{"id":2621,"date":"2016-12-01T18:49:23","date_gmt":"2016-12-01T18:49:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=2621"},"modified":"2016-12-01T18:49:23","modified_gmt":"2016-12-01T18:49:23","slug":"francis-g-fran-oakden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=2621","title":{"rendered":"Francis G. &#8220;Fran&#8221; Oakden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Francis G. \u201cFran\u201d Oakden \u2013 66 \u2013 of 7914 State Route 36, Arkport, formerly of Hornell, died early Wednesday morning (November 30, 2016) at Strong Memorial Hospital, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Tuscarora, NY on October 29, 1950, he was the son of Hollis &amp; Flora Oakden.<\/p>\n<p>Fran grew up in the Corning &amp; Addison areas and attended school at Elmira Southside. He was a veteran of the US Army (1967-1974), having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He had been employed as a mechanic at Morrison-Knudsen Corporation (M-K) for many years.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Oakden.<\/p>\n<p>He was married to the former Burglind \u201cBrook\u201d Clancy who survives. Also surviving are 1 daughter, Julie Oakden of Arkport; 2 sons, Jason Oakden of Nevada and Casey Oakden of Hornell; 1 brother, Larry Oakden; 3 sisters, Sue McCain, Shirley Plaisted and Joan Bates;<br \/>\n2 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Gallese and Collin Gallese; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>At Fran\u2019s there will be no calling hours or services.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Francis G. \u201cFran\u201d Oakden \u2013 66 \u2013 of 7914 State Route 36, Arkport, formerly of Hornell, died early Wednesday morning (November 30, 2016) at Strong Memorial Hospital, following a long illness.
