Macaluso- 84 \u2013 formerly of Maple Court Homes, Hornell, died Wednesday morning (April 4, 2018) at Updyke\u2019s Willow Ridge Nursing Facility, where she had resided for the past three years.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Canisteo, NY on March 27, 1934, she was the daughter of Clifford and Madelene (Symonds) Feenaughty.<\/p>\n<p>Joyce grew up in Canisteo and was a graduate of Canisteo Central School (class of 1952).\u00a0 She later earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in history from Geneseo State Teachers College (SUNY Geneseo) and her master\u2019s from University at Buffalo.<\/p>\n<p>She resided in Mt. Morris, NY for over 20 years and for several years had been employed as an English teacher at Nunda Central School and briefly taught history at Mt. Morris High School.\u00a0 For about 10 years, Joyce lived in Depew, NY and served as administrator at a drug &amp; alcohol rehab facility in Buffalo, NY.\u00a0 For about 15 years, she resided in Gallup, New Mexico where she worked as a mental health counselor to the Navajo Indian Nation.\u00a0 She had resided in Hornell for the past 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Joyce had a deep love &amp; affection for all animals and loved her huskies, greyhounds, and cats.\u00a0 She was adventurous and she had a great sense of humor. She was a \u201ccareer woman\u201d well before it was common.<\/p>\n<p>She was married to Louis S. \u201cLouie\u201d Macaluso who died February 4, 1978, and was also preceded in death by her brother, Jon Patrick \u201cPat\u201d Feenaughty of Canisteo, NY, on April 16, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are her son, Timothy (Daryl Parks, her \u201cother son\u201d) Macaluso of Rochester; three brothers, Ledale \u201cDale\u201d (Rosemary) Feenaughty of Bolivar, Lynn (Sharon) Feenaughty of Phoenix, AZ and Gerald (Phyllis) Feenaughty of Savona, NY; along with several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Joyce L. Macaluso will receive friends on Saturday (April 14, 2018) from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at the <strong>Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 <\/strong>Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.<\/p>\n<p>Joyce\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY\u00a0 14843\u00a0 or to the Alzheimer\u2019s Association, 435 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Joyce L.
