{"id":3189,"date":"2018-04-22T19:15:58","date_gmt":"2018-04-22T19:15:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=3189"},"modified":"2018-05-01T17:25:32","modified_gmt":"2018-05-01T17:25:32","slug":"william-figueroa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=3189","title":{"rendered":"William &#8220;Billy&#8221; Figueroa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-3201\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/William-Figueroa-Photo-200x255.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"255\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/William-Figueroa-Photo-200x255.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/William-Figueroa-Photo.jpg 212w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>William \u201cBilly\u201d Figueroa \u2013 78 \u2013 of 13 Bostwick Place, died early Sunday morning (April 22, 2018) at St. James Mercy Hospital following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Puerto Rico on April 17, 1940, he was the son of Estervina (Colero) Figueroa.<\/p>\n<p>Billy\u2019s family moved to Mainland United States when Billy was a child.\u00a0 He grew up in the Chicago, IL area, moving to the Hornell area 37 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>He was employed for many years in the maintenance department of Morrison-Knudsen (MK) Corporation and in recent years worked in the kitchen of the Texas Caf\u00e9 in Hornell.<\/p>\n<p>On religious Holy Days, Billy would often attend services at St. Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0 He was an avid baseball fan and especially enjoyed rooting for his beloved Chicago White Sox.\u00a0 He also enjoyed watching professional wrestling on television.\u00a0 One of Billy\u2019s favorite pastimes was \u201c<em>Making a Friendly Wager or Two<\/em>\u201d at OTB.<\/p>\n<p>Billy was preceded in death by his mother, Estervina (Colero) Figueroa and also her brother, Gualberto Figueroa.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his lifelong companion, Marsha Dailey; 2 daughters, Kelly (Roger) Hall of Hornell and Casey (Jerry) Lathers of Hornell; 1 son, William Figueroa JR of Chicago; 4 brothers, Jose Santiago of Puerto Rico, Manuel (Maria) Figueroa of Florida, Rafael (Neomi) Figueroa of Chicago, IL and Leonardo (Guadalupe) Figueroa of Chicago, IL; 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Hazel, Ethan, Shelby, Paige &amp; Aiden; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>At Billy\u2019s request there will be no prior calling hours.\u00a0 Family &amp; friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, (May 19, 2018) at 2:00 PM at the <strong>Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY <\/strong>with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.<\/p>\n<p>Billy\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to National Parkinson Foundation, PO Box 23204,\u00a0 Rochester, NY\u00a0 14692.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>William \u201cBilly\u201d Figueroa \u2013 78 \u2013 of 13 Bostwick Place, died early Sunday morning (April 22, 2018) at St. James Mercy Hospital following a long illness.
