Young \u2013 28 \u2013 of 49 Stephens St., Hornell, died unexpectedly on Saturday (November 27, 2010).<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on January 12, 1982, she was the daughter of Lynn Mallery and Kevin Griffin.<\/p>\n<p>A lifelong resident of Hornell, Joreen attended Hornell High School and later earned her GED diploma.\u00a0 She later earned an Associate\u2019s Degree in Business Administration from Corning Community College.<\/p>\n<p>She had been employed for several years as a legal secretary for Pulos &amp; Rosell in Hornell and most recently worked as a home health assistant for the Center for Disability Rights (CDR) in Hornell.<\/p>\n<p>Joreen enjoyed photography and spent countless hours scrapbooking and creating beautiful collages of her family &amp; friends.<!--more--> She was an avid reader and enjoyed writing short stories.\u00a0 She also enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking and fishing.\u00a0 Joreen\u2019s greatest joy in life was her family, especially being a wonderful mother to her son, Julius.<\/p>\n<p>She was preceded in death by her mother, Lynn Mallery who died August 30, 2010 and also her \u201cstep-father\u201d, Rick Naas.<\/p>\n<p>She was married in August, 2002 to Shane Young who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are her son, Julius; her father, Kevin (Lori) Griffin of Hornell; her sister, Stephanie Cudoni of Canisteo; half sisters &amp; half brothers, Christine Griffin, James Griffin, Kevin Griffin &amp; Cindy Griffin; her maternal grandmother, Joreen Mallery of Hornell; paternal grandparents, Bob &amp; Millie Griffin of Hornell; 1 niece, Mackenzie Cregan of Canisteo; several aunts &amp; uncles.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Joreen A. Young will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY, where a Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Joreen A.
