Leahy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-3848\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/William-Leahy-Photo-200x273.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/William-Leahy-Photo-200x273.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/William-Leahy-Photo-250x341.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/William-Leahy-Photo.jpg 732w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>William M. \u201cBill\u201d Leahy \u2013 57 \u2013 of 3997 Fenton Ave., Greenwood, formerly of Canisteo, died Wednesday afternoon (June 19, 2019) at his home, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Forest Hills, NY on August 12, 1961, he was the son of Bernard &amp; Helaine (Perlman) Leahy.<\/p>\n<p>Bill grew up in Stamford, CT and had resided in many locations throughout the State of Connecticut. After graduating from high school, Bill took classes at Corning Community College and also took classes at the\u00a0 York State Fire Academy in Bath, NY, becoming a firefighter and EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) .\u00a0 He was a veteran of the US Army, serving his country from 1985 \u2013 1989.<\/p>\n<p>For several years, Bill worked for Coleman Brothers and also Reithoffers Carnival.\u00a0 He not only served as a mechanic, setting up, tearing down and maintaining the rides, but also as ride operator and truck driver for both companies.\u00a0 Throughout the years, Bill had been employed as a truck driver for several trucking companies, traveling throughout the country.\u00a0 He also drove for Rensenberger Trucking, transporting railroad workers.<\/p>\n<p>Having a deep love of music, Bill served as the sound production engineer for several bands in Connecticut and often would travel with the bands.\u00a0 For the past 16 years, he owned &amp; operated Spectrum Entertainment providing DJ Music &amp; Karoke for weddings and private parties.\u00a0 He also enjoyed the outdoors and loved deer hunting.<\/p>\n<p>For many years, Bill served as a firefighter and EMT in Connecticut, East Corning, South Corning, Macedon, and Greenwood.\u00a0 He had also been employed as a mechanic at Monroe Muffler in Riverside, NY.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Leahy.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his son, Shane Davis of Greenwood and also Shane\u2019s mother Tammy (Eric) Ford of Greenwood.<\/p>\n<p>At Bill\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with final interment in the Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the <strong>Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>William M. \u201cBill\u201d Leahy \u2013 57 \u2013 of 3997 Fenton Ave., Greenwood, formerly of Canisteo, died Wednesday afternoon (June 19, 2019) at his home, following a long illness.
