Gilleran"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-3895\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Thomas-Gilleran-Photo-200x278.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"278\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Thomas-Gilleran-Photo-200x278.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Thomas-Gilleran-Photo-250x348.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Thomas-Gilleran-Photo-768x1069.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Thomas-Gilleran-Photo-1024x1425.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Thomas-Gilleran-Photo.jpg 1173w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>Thomas G. \u201cTom\u201d Gilleran \u2013 76 \u2013 of Hornell, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning (July 31, 2019) at his home.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Albany, NY on September 27, 1942, he was the son of George &amp; Frances (Klos) Gilleran.<\/p>\n<p>Tom grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of St. Ann\u2019s School.\u00a0 He later graduated from Hornell High School (class of 1960).\u00a0 Following high school graduation, Tom attended Alfred University where he majored in Chemical Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>He was employed for many years at the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) as a computer technician, retiring about 17 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Tom had been member a communicant of St. Ignatius Loyola Church.\u00a0 He enjoyed fishing, playing chess and watching baseball (especially the NY Mets &amp; LA Dodgers) on TV. \u00a0He also enjoyed horse racing and his many trips to the race track.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded by his father, George T. Gilleran, his mother, Frances E. Gilleran in death by his nephew, Andrew Attinasi.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his sister, Mary Ann (Daniel) Attinasi of Rochester; his nephew, Daniel (Johanna) Attinasi; his niece, Christine (Vince) LaTerra; two great nieces, Drew Attinasi and Mary Jo LaTerra; along with several cousins.\u00a0 He will also be sadly missed by his friends and wonderful neighbors.<\/p>\n<p>At Tom\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the <strong>Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tom\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to St. Ann\u2019s Academy, 41 Genesee St., Hornell, NY or to the American Red Cross, 11371 LPGA Drive, Corning, NY 14830<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thomas G. \u201cTom\u201d Gilleran \u2013 76 \u2013 of Hornell, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning (July 31, 2019) at his home.
