{"id":4002,"date":"2019-11-19T23:19:18","date_gmt":"2019-11-19T23:19:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=4002"},"modified":"2019-11-21T16:46:18","modified_gmt":"2019-11-21T16:46:18","slug":"rosemary-rosie-george-cilano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=4002","title":{"rendered":"Rosemary &#8220;Rosie&#8221; George Cilano"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-4007\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Rosemary-Cilano-Photo-200x307.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Rosemary-Cilano-Photo-200x307.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Rosemary-Cilano-Photo-250x384.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Rosemary-Cilano-Photo.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>Rosemary \u201cRosie\u201d George Cilano \u2013 60 \u2013 of 6338 Shaw Road, Alfred Station, formerly of Hornell, died Monday afternoon (November 18, 2019) at Highland Hospital in Rochester, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on December 8, 1958, she was the daughter of James \u201cJimmy\u201d &amp; Carolyn (Buono) George.<\/p>\n<p>Rosie grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1977).\u00a0 When she was 16 years old, she began working at the Sunset Inn, a family owned Italian restaurant which was well known throughout the area for its fine Italian Cuisine.\u00a0 From 1974 \u2013 1986, Rosie served as the primary cook and pizza maker.\u00a0 From 1986 \u2013 1989, she was employed as a cook at Muhleisen\u2019s Restaurant in Almond.<\/p>\n<p>She resided in Canandaigua for about five years where she was employed as a cook at a local restaurant, returning to the Hornell area in 1994.\u00a0 She has resided in the Alfred-Station for about 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Rosie had been a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0 She also had been a member of the Hornell Elks Lodge and also the Hornell Association.\u00a0 She loved socializing with her many friends and was an avid card player (she especially loved playing poker).\u00a0 Rosie had a deep loved of music and especially enjoyed listening to Rock &amp; Roll Oldies.\u00a0 She had a deep love of cooking and loved sharing her delicious home cooked meals with family &amp; friends.<\/p>\n<p>She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy &amp; Carolyn George and also her brother, Michael George.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are her sister, Kathy (Larry) Doty of Hornell; her sister-in-law, Patty George of Hornell; her niece, Jaime George; nephews, Brian Doty, Christopher Doty, Anthony George and Matthew George; 2 great-nieces (with whom she would spend countless hours simply playing with) Natalia Doty and Amara George; along with many aunts, uncles &amp; cousins.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Rosemary \u201cRosie\u201d George Cilano will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 PM \u2013 7:00 PM at the <strong>Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 <\/strong>A prayer service led by dear friend, Tom Roselli, will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 7:00 PM at which time family &amp; friends will be given an opportunity to tell a story or share a memory of Rosie.\u00a0 Final interment will be in St. Mary\u2019s Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Rosie\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to St. Ann\u2019s Church, 29 Erie Ave., Hornell, NY 14943.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rosemary \u201cRosie\u201d George Cilano \u2013 60 \u2013 of 6338 Shaw Road, Alfred Station, formerly of Hornell, died Monday afternoon (November 18, 2019) at Highland Hospital in Rochester, following a long illness.
