{"id":4607,"date":"2020-10-03T18:15:53","date_gmt":"2020-10-03T18:15:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=4607"},"modified":"2020-10-03T18:16:38","modified_gmt":"2020-10-03T18:16:38","slug":"4607","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=4607","title":{"rendered":"Mary Ann Leon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4609\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Mary-Ann-Leon-Photo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"174\" height=\"246\" \/>Mary Ann Leon, 88, of 480 Maple City Drive, Hornell, NY died peacefully Friday, October 2, 2020, following a brief illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on February 27, 1932, she was the daughter of Juan and\u00a0Annie (Grillo) Orihuel.<\/p>\n<p>Mary Ann grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School, class of 1949.\u00a0 Following high school, she worked various jobs and completed her last six years of employment in office administration at Stern and Stern Industries \u2014 a job she truly loved.<\/p>\n<p>She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s Church.<\/p>\n<p>On September 25, 1971, she married Earl W. Leon of Alfred, NY.\u00a0 She and Earl especially enjoyed traveling and hosting family &amp; friends in homes they maintained in Florida and New York.\u00a0 Mary Ann particularly loved playing cards, cooking, and family gatherings.\u00a0 She was also an avid football and basketball sports fan.\u00a0 Her beloved husband Earl died May 18, 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are her children, Don (Cheryl) House of Millbrook, AL; Ron (Barb) House of Sun City Center, FL; Kathy (House) Wright of Prattville, AL; John (Sheryl) House of Alfred Station, NY; step-children David (Becky) Leon of Canandaigua, NY; and Diane Trimble of Geneseo, NY; 2 sisters, JoAnn McCarthy of Nashua, NH and Lucy Orihuel of Sarasota, FL; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews &amp; cousins.<\/p>\n<p>At Mary Ann\u2019s request, there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 A private graveside service will be held at St. Mary\u2019s Cemetery at the convenience of the family with a \u201cCelebration of Life\u201d to be held at a future date.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements are in care of the <strong>Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mary Ann\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to St. Jude Children\u2019s Hospital, PO Box 1000 \u2013 Dept. 300, Memphis, TN\u00a0 38148 or by visiting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stjude.org\/donate\/donate-to-st-jude.html\">https:\/\/www.stjude.org\/donate\/donate-to-st-jude.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Arrangements are in care of the <strong>Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mary Ann Leon, 88, of 480 Maple City Drive, Hornell, NY died peacefully Friday, October 2, 2020, following a brief illness.
