{"id":4793,"date":"2021-01-30T17:55:10","date_gmt":"2021-01-30T17:55:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=4793"},"modified":"2021-02-03T13:42:45","modified_gmt":"2021-02-03T13:42:45","slug":"william-bill-bobownik","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=4793","title":{"rendered":"William \u201cBill\u201d Bobownik"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-4802\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/William-Bobownik-Photo-1-200x328.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"328\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/William-Bobownik-Photo-1-200x328.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/William-Bobownik-Photo-1-250x410.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/William-Bobownik-Photo-1.jpg 310w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>William \u201cBill\u201d Bobownik \u2013 (98) \u2013 of 23 Hart St., Hornell, died Saturday morning (January 30, 2021) at the Vincent House in Wayland where he resided for the past three months.<\/p>\n<p>A native &amp; lifelong resident of Hornell, he was born May 15, 1922, and was the son of George &amp; Anna Bobownik.<\/p>\n<p>He was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1940) and was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s Church.<\/p>\n<p>Bill was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the US Air Force.\u00a0 He was on board the very first Troop Ship leaving the east coast (December 11, 1941) following the bombing at Pearl Harbor.<\/p>\n<p>He was employed for over 11 years at the Erie Railroad Police Department.\u00a0 For 22 years, he served as principal engineering technician at the New York State Department of Transportation.\u00a0 He retired in 1977.<\/p>\n<p>Bill was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann Downey and Mary Bobownik.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his longtime companion, Mary Willsey of Hornell; 4 nieces &amp; 1 nephew.<\/p>\n<p>Bill\u2019s family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff and caregivers at the Vincent House for the loving care that he received during the final three months of his life.<\/p>\n<p>At Bill\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM at St. Ann\u2019s Church with final interment in St. Ann\u2019s Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the <strong>Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill\u2019s name may be made to the Vincent House, 310 Second St., Wayland, NY 14572<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>William \u201cBill\u201d Bobownik \u2013 (98) \u2013 of 23 Hart St., Hornell, died Saturday morning (January 30, 2021) at the Vincent House in Wayland where he resided for the past three months.
