{"id":4835,"date":"2021-02-19T22:20:02","date_gmt":"2021-02-19T22:20:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=4835"},"modified":"2021-02-19T22:20:02","modified_gmt":"2021-02-19T22:20:02","slug":"lucy-lantz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=4835","title":{"rendered":"Lucy Lantz"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-4836\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Lucy-Lantz-Photo-200x280.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Lucy-Lantz-Photo-200x280.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Lucy-Lantz-Photo-250x350.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Lucy-Lantz-Photo.jpg 530w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>Lucy Lantz, 105 years young, of Hornell, died early Wednesday morning (February 17, 2021) at Hornell Gardens where she resided for the past 15 years.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on November 1, 1915, she was the daughter of Ludwig &amp; Margaret (Mosley) Lantz.<\/p>\n<p>Lucy grew up in Hornell and for 37 years resided in Newark, NY.\u00a0 She returned to the Hornell area where she resided for the past 50 years.<\/p>\n<p>An avid bingo player, Lucy enjoyed putting together complicated jigsaw puzzles, framing them and giving them as gifts to family &amp; friends.\u00a0 She was a self-proclaimed \u201cSocial Butterfly\u201d with a great sense of humor and a true music lover who enjoyed dancing with her sister, Sophie.<\/p>\n<p>Lucy had a deep affection for animals and would often \u201ctake-in\u201d stray dogs &amp; cats, providing food &amp; shelter for her \u201cfour-legged friends\u201d.\u00a0 Although Lucy was never blessed with children of her own, she seemed to have adopted the entire community.\u00a0 She will be sadly missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ludwig Lantz and William Lantz; and her sister, Sophie Lantz with whom she resided with for most of her life.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, great-great-great nieces and great-great-great nephews.\u00a0 She will also be sadly missed by her many friends, especially the staff &amp; residents at Hornell Gardens.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Lucy Lantz will receive friends on Sunday (today) from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the <strong>Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY<\/strong>.\u00a0 Funeral &amp; committal services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 4:00 PM with Rev. Dudley Jenkins officiating.\u00a0 Final interment will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Lucy\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contribution in her name be made to the Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY 14843.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lucy Lantz, 105 years young, of Hornell, died early Wednesday morning (February 17, 2021) at Hornell Gardens where she resided for the past 15 years.
