Burley \u2013 74 \u2013 of 8938 County Route 52, Arkport, NY (Town of Burns), died\u00a0 unexpectedly Tuesday evening (October 5, 2021) at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville where she had been taken by ambulance after being stricken at home.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on September 16, 1947, she was the daughter of Lester &amp; Delores (Manhart) Wing.<\/p>\n<p>Rosemary grew up in Arkport and was a graduate of Arkport Central School (class of 1966).\u00a0 She was married on September 24, 1966 to Francis \u201cFran\u201d Burley who survives.\u00a0 For 21 years, Rosemary &amp; Fran resided in many locations following the path that his US Navy career led them.\u00a0 Some of these locations included New York, Virginia, California, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Florida, returning to the Arkport area in 2002.<\/p>\n<p>A devoted member of the United Methodist Church on Webbs Crossing Road, Rosemary was a member of the attendance committee and taught Sunday School for children.\u00a0 She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Canaseraga American Legion.\u00a0 Rosemary was a talented \u201ccraft worker\u201d who enjoyed sewing, knitting and creating beautiful quilts.\u00a0 She was also a talented artist who enjoyed painting and loved writing children\u2019s literature.\u00a0 She was an excellent cook and loved watching Tennis matches on TV.<\/p>\n<p>Rosemary was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Holbrook.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Francis \u201cFran\u201d Burley; 2 sons, Lester Burley of Hornell and Gregory (Missy) Burley of Jacksonville, FL; 1 sister, Marjorie McDaniel of Canisteo; 4 grandchildren, Abbie Burley, Allen Burley, Andrew Burley and Jackson Burley; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Rosemary L. Burley will receive friends on Saturday (October 9, 2021) from 11:00 AM until 12:00 (Noon) at the United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Webbs Crossing Road and North Main Street Ext.\u00a0 A Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Lenny Fuller officiating.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the <strong>Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Rosemary\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the United Methodist Church, 7528 North Main St. Ext., Hornell, NY 148943.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rosemary L.
