Caruso, JR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5532\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/IMG_1284-250x338.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/IMG_1284-250x338.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/IMG_1284-1024x1384.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/IMG_1284-200x270.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/IMG_1284-768x1038.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/IMG_1284-1137x1536.jpg 1137w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/IMG_1284.jpg 1415w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Angelo Leo Caruso, Jr. of Sawyer Street in Hornell, NY passed away on Sunday February 27 after a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on October 11, 1948, he was the son of Angelo Leo Caruso Sr. and Elinor (Burr) Caruso.<\/p>\n<p>Angelo, better known as \u201cAngie\u201d by family and friends, attended Hornell schools and graduated from Hornell High School (class of 1967).\u00a0 During high school, he was employed by Acme grocery store as a stock boy and cashier. \u00a0Following High school, he attended Alfred State College and worked at Russ Davis Auto where he developed expert skills as an auto mechanic.<\/p>\n<p>He continued to master these skills throughout life, and eventually could figure out and fix any problem with a vehicle. \u00a0Angie owned and operated a business for several years called C &amp; E Roofing. \u00a0He was later employed by the City of Hornell in the Department of Public Works.<\/p>\n<p>In his free time he enjoyed hunting, building his home on Gypsy Hill, and tinkering at his campsite. \u00a0Angie had a big Italian family that he loved spending time with over the years. \u00a0As the big brother to many siblings, he often acted as their gentle leader and protector throughout childhood and adolescence.<\/p>\n<p>He cherished his close friendships and had unwavering loyalty towards those he loved. \u00a0He had a big heart, sensitive soul, and was very generous even when he had little to give.\u00a0 In recent years, Angie spent much of his time visiting family and friends that were in nursing homes or hospitalized. \u00a0During his lifetime, he overcame many difficult situations due to his persistence and survival skills.<\/p>\n<p>Without a doubt, Angie lived a full and interesting life.\u00a0 As Frank Sinatra would say, \u201c<u>HE DID IT HIS WAY<\/u>\u201d!<\/p>\n<p>Angie is predeceased by his parents, brothers Lawrence R. Caruso &amp; Joe Caruso; sister Pat Markel; and nephew Jimmy Hess.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by many family members who loved him including Sandra Donlon, Nancy Beach, Angela Caruso, Tony Caruso, Michael Caruso, Richie Caruso, Vicky Southard, Kathy Wilbur, Linda Salyerds and \u00a0Jeff Teeter; special friends, Pete Tinkelpaugh and Glenn Tinklepaugh; many nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and many cousins.<\/p>\n<p>A special \u201cThank-You\u201d goes out to Deacon Bob McCormick, Karen Carney, Laurie Reese, the Hornell Fire Department, the Hornell Police Department (especially Officer Donavan and Sgt. McHenry), and the staff at the Hornell Housing Authority.<\/p>\n<p>At Angie\u2019s request, there will be no calling hours. The family will hold a \u201cCelebration of Life\u201d a later date along with a private Graveside Service at St. Mary\u2019s Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, the family requests prayers for their beloved Angie to rest peacefully now with the Lord.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Angelo Leo Caruso, Jr. of Sawyer Street in Hornell, NY passed away on Sunday February 27 after a long illness.
