{"id":5545,"date":"2022-03-16T12:54:51","date_gmt":"2022-03-16T12:54:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=5545"},"modified":"2022-03-19T15:37:42","modified_gmt":"2022-03-19T15:37:42","slug":"zoey-elizabeth-kays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=5545","title":{"rendered":"Zoey Elizabeth Kays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5559\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Zoey-Kays-Photo-2-250x307.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Zoey-Kays-Photo-2-250x307.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Zoey-Kays-Photo-2-200x245.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Zoey-Kays-Photo-2.jpg 489w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Zoey Elizabeth Kays \u2013 (21) \u2013 of 146 Woodhill Dr., Rochester, formerly of Hornell &amp; Almond, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning (March 13, 2022) at her home.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on October 12, 2000, she was the daughter of Stacey Zaparzynski &amp; James Kays.<\/p>\n<p>Zoey grew up in Hornell and attended Hornell High School.\u00a0 She later graduated from Alfred-Almond Central School (class of 2019).\u00a0 Following high school graduation, Zoey attended Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) in Canandaigua, NY.<\/p>\n<p>While in high school, she was a member of the HHS Swim Team, competing in the Backstroke, Free Style and was a member of the Relay Team.\u00a0 Zoey was also a member of the HHS Indore Track Team and the 2015-2016 Varsity Cheerleading Team.\u00a0 She enjoyed playing Cinderella Softball &amp; YMCA Basketball.<\/p>\n<p>For about 2 years, Zoey resided in Canandaigua, NY and had worked as a cashier for Byrne Dairy and was also employed at St. George Pizzeria.\u00a0 For the past year she lived in the Rochester area and owned &amp; operated Trixie\u2019s Treats Bakery.<\/p>\n<p>Zoey had a deep appreciation for all music and especially enjoyed listening to singer-songwriter, Lana Del Rey.\u00a0 She will be remembered for her friendly personality who was not afraid to speak her mind.\u00a0 You always \u201cknew where you stood\u201d with Zoey!!<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are her mother, Stacey (Will VanScoter) Zaparzynski of Hornell; her father, James \u201cJim\u201d (Marie) Kays of Angelica; 3 brothers, Tyler (Arlene Wagner) Kays of Hornell, Jonas Kays of Almond and Spencer Rambaran of Caldwell, ID; 1 sister, Kaydence Smith of Hornell; paternal grandparents, Steve &amp; Sue Kays of Almond; maternal grandparents, Ed (Joanna) Zaparzynski of Tucson, AZ and Karen (Dave) Winant of Hornell; maternal great-grandparents, Ed Zaparzynski of North Hornell and Jean Shepard of Hornell; 1 nephew, Stanley Kays of Hornell; many aunts, uncles &amp; cousins.\u00a0 She will also be sadly missed by her \u201ccanine companion, \u201cKodak\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>There will be no prior calling hours.\u00a0 Private services will be held at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY at the convenience of the family with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.<\/p>\n<p>Family &amp; friends are invited to a \u201cCelebration of Life\u201d on Wednesday from 4:00PM \u00a0&#8211;\u00a0 \u2018Till ?? at RBI Sports Pub, 68 River St., Hornell, NY to remember the life of Zoey Elizabeth Kays.<\/p>\n<p>Zoey\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to: Shriner\u2019s Children\u2019s Hospital, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA, 16505.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Zoey Elizabeth Kays \u2013 (21) \u2013 of 146 Woodhill Dr., Rochester, formerly of Hornell &amp; Almond, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning (March 13, 2022) at her home.
