{"id":5826,"date":"2022-07-23T23:58:31","date_gmt":"2022-07-23T23:58:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=5826"},"modified":"2022-07-25T12:27:22","modified_gmt":"2022-07-25T12:27:22","slug":"wallace-a-pete-macdonald","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=5826","title":{"rendered":"Wallace A. &#8220;Pete&#8221; MacDonald"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5832\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Wallace-Pete-MacDonald-Photo-250x352.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Wallace-Pete-MacDonald-Photo-250x352.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Wallace-Pete-MacDonald-Photo-200x282.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Wallace-Pete-MacDonald-Photo.jpg 426w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Scio, New York<\/p>\n<p>Wallace A. \u201cPete\u201d MacDonald &#8211; 86- passed away July 23, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones.<\/p>\n<p>Born June 23, 1936 in Farmington, CT, Pete had an early affinity for agriculture that was fostered by his work with dairy cows.\u00a0 This love of farming led him to major in animal science\/agricultural education at U-Conn where he obtained his Master\u2019s degree.\u00a0 This is also where Pete met the love of his life, Kathleen (nee Daley).<\/p>\n<p>Alfred became their home in 1960 at the conclusion of their honeymoon as Pete had a job waiting for him as a professor of dairy science at Alfred Ag Tech (now Alfred State College).\u00a0 This is where they made their home and raised their three children, Dan (Jessie) MacDonald, Tim (Donna) MacDonald, and Patricia (Alan) Eshelman on the landmark EIEIO farm.\u00a0 The farm set the stage where his six grandchildren (Anna, Erica, Olivia, Aidan, James &amp; Benjamin) climbed on the hay bales, found new kittens, and listened to \u201cBampa\u2019s\u201d lessons.<\/p>\n<p>He is also survived by his sister Anne Jednorowicz, along with many nieces and nephews. \u00a0Pete is pre-deceased by his sisters Mary Guild, Muriel Judd, and Dossy Colevecchio.<\/p>\n<p>Pete was known for his treasured flock of sheep, his skill with knitting needles, his passion for education, and his quick opinion.\u00a0 He loved to sing to his favorite musicals, kick up his heels to a lively tune, and arrange flower bouquets for the church.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his life, Pete was involved in many board positions, including the New York State School Board, Rural Schools Association, Empire State Sheep Producers, and the New York State BOCES School Board.\u00a0 He also was an active 4-H leader and livestock and dairy judge.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Wallace A. \u201cPete\u201d MacDonald will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until \u00a06:00 PM at the <strong>Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY<\/strong>.\u00a0 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at St. Jude\u2019s Church on the SUNY Campus, reception to follow.\u00a0 A private burial with immediate family will follow on Thursday at Alfred-Rural Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Pete\u2019s family request is that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Pete\u2019s name to the CCE Allegany County 4-H Program, 5435 County Road 48, Belmont, NY 14813 or to the Bolivar\u2013Richburg WEE Center, 100 School St., Bolivar, NY\u00a0 14715.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\">www.dagonfuneralhome.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Scio, New York Wallace A. \u201cPete\u201d MacDonald &#8211; 86- passed away July 23, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones.
