Wulforst \u2013 83 \u2013 of 8687 Conderman Road, Town of Fremont, died early Saturday morning (August 20, 2022) at his home, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hicksville, LI on March 1, 1939, he was the son of Henry \u201cSam\u201d &amp; Helen \u201cNellie\u201d (Horan) Wulforst.<\/p>\n<p>A resident of the Hornell \u2013 Fremont area since the age of four, Henry was a graduate of Arkport Central School (class of 1957).\u00a0 He was also a Veteran of the US Army serving his country for two years.<\/p>\n<p>Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Henry returned to the Hornell \u2013 Fremont area and for many years was associated with the family potato farming business.\u00a0 For most of his adult life, he worked in the construction industry with several local construction companies.\u00a0 For 18 years, Henry served as Superintendent for the Town of Fremont.<\/p>\n<p>Henry was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0 He was an avid New York Mets fan and also enjoyed rooting for the Buffalo Bills.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Wulforst RSM (Sisters of Mercy); 2 brothers, James Wulforst and Charles Wulforst.<\/p>\n<p>In 1973, Henry married the former Lorraine Hinkley Volkmar who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are his step-son, Scott Volkmar of Fremont; his step-granddaughter, Shana Harrington; several nieces, nephews &amp; cousins.<\/p>\n<p>At Henry\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Henry\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech St., Johnson City, NY 13790.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\">www.dagonfuneralhome.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Henry J.
