Clark \u2013 89 \u2013 formerly of 2 Rural Ave., North Hornell, died Saturday afternoon (March 19, 2011) at McAuley Ave., where she has resided for the past 5 months.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Born in Renovo, PA on August 23, 1921, she was the daughter of Elmer &amp; Vera (Ames) Weaver.\u00a0 She resided in Hornell for most of her life.<\/p>\n<p>Erma was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1939).\u00a0 Throughout the years she was employed at several area businesses including Huegets Textiles of Hornell, Westinghouse Corporation of Bath, Loohns Cleaners of Hornell and returning Stern &amp; Stern Textiles (formerly Huegets) as an inspector.\u00a0 She retired in 1986.\u00a0 Following her \u201cretirement\u201d, Erma served as a Home Care Giver for the elderly in the Hornell area.<\/p>\n<p>She was a former member of the United Methodist Church of Hornell.\u00a0 She was also a former member of the Women of the Moose.\u00a0 In her younger years, Erma enjoyed square dancing and had been a member of the Buds &amp; Blossoms Dance Group.\u00a0 She later assisted Dixie Brundage with her Line Dancing Group.<\/p>\n<p>Erma enjoyed many hobbies including ceramics, knitting and sewing.\u00a0\u00a0 She was also known as an outstanding cook and especially loved spending all day on Sundays preparing \u201cSunday Dinner\u201d for her family.\u00a0 It has often been said that \u201cthe Clark family never runs out of mashed potatoes!!\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>She was married in Arkport on January 24, 1942 to Kenneth \u201cKen\u201d Clark who died February 11, 2001.\u00a0 She was also preceded in death by her brother, Malcolm; 3 sisters, Eleanor, Luella &amp; Beatrice.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are 2 sons, Rodney \u201cRod\u201d Clark of Hornell and Larry (Mary) Clark of Hornell; 1 daughter, Candace \u201cCandy\u201d Caddell of Hornell; 1 brother, Bob (Jean) Weaver of Arvada, CO; 8 grandchildren, Joey (Bob) Forys, Corey (Lindsay) Clark, Holly (Joe) Eschberger, Andrew &#8220;AJ&#8221; (Tracie) Caddell, Christopher (Katie Henderson) Clark, Marieka (Dave) Woolever, Adam Clark and Colleen (Kyle Amidon) Clark; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces &amp; nephews.\u00a0 She is also survived by her beloved dog, Timmie.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Erma J. Clark will receive friends on Tuesday from 2:00 PM\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0 5:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY, where funeral &amp; committal services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 5:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.\u00a0 Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Erma\u2019s family request that memorial contributions in her name be made to either the Alzheimer\u2019s Association, 235 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620 or to the Hornell Humane Society, PO Box 533, Hornell, NY 14843 or the Hornell YMCA Building Fund, 12 Center St., Hornell, NY 14843.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n<p>A \u201cSpecial Thanks\u201d goes out the all of the wonderful caregivers at Updyke\u2019s Assisted Living Facility and McAuley Manor for taking such wonderful care of Erma during the past year.\u00a0 Hornell is truly blessed to have such dedicated professionals serving our community.\u00a0 Our thoughts &amp; prayers are with everyone that made Erma\u2019s final days so enjoyable!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Erma J.
