Anderson &#8212; AKA \u201cCharlie\u201d \u2013 75 \u2013 of 356 Bennett Parkway, Hornell, died unexpectedly on Friday (February 3, 2023) at his home.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Ashford, AL on April 27, 1947, he was the son of Herbert Brown and Marion Anderson.<\/p>\n<p>John grew up in Ashford, AL and was a graduate of Ashford High School (class of 1965).\u00a0 He was a Veteran of the US Army serving his country in Vietnam during the Vietnam Crisis.\u00a0 While in the army, John received the Purple Heart Medal for being wounded by a mortar round.<\/p>\n<p>Following his honorable discharge from the military, John resided in many locations including Alabama, Virginia and New York.\u00a0 While living in Virginia, he was employed at a chicken processing plant.\u00a0 He has resided in Hornell for the past 12 years.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Lela Mae Wilsher and Rosa Lee Campbell; 1 brother, Ulysses Campbell.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his son, Roger Anderson of Hornell; 2 brothers, William \u201cWill\u201d Simpson and Willie Cook; 1 sister, Dorothy \u201cDot\u201d Simpson; 3 grandsons, Brandon Lee McCaffrey, Elijah Israel Anderson and Isaiah John Anderson; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>At John\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with final interment at the Bath National Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\">www.dagonfuneralhome.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>John R.
