Bacon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-629\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=629\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-629\" title=\"Charles Bacon Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Charles-Bacon-Photo1-250x220.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Charles-Bacon-Photo1-250x220.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Charles-Bacon-Photo1-200x176.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Charles-Bacon-Photo1.jpg 715w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>Charles F. \u201cCharlie\u201d Bacon \u2013 67\u2013 of 174 East Ave., Hornell, died early this morning (Monday, April 18, 2011) at St. James Mercy Hospital, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on October 3, 1943, he was the son of George &amp; Mildred (Hann) Bacon.<\/p>\n<p>Charlie attended Hornell High School and later earned his General Education Diploma (GED).\u00a0 For several years he was employed as a carpenter &amp; \u201croofer\u201d for a local roofing company.\u00a0 For over 20 years Charlie worked as a \u201cOver The Road\u201d (OTR) Truck Driver for several tricking companies, including John Giles Tricking, Fiamingo Moving &amp; Storage and M.S. Carriers.\u00a0 He primarily served the East Coast.<\/p>\n<p>He had been a member of the Hornell IOOF and a booster member of the Hornell VFW.\u00a0 He enjoyed hunting &amp; fishing and also enjoyed watching NFL games and rooting for the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings.<!--more-->Charlie was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jeffery Bacon and Bobby Bacon; 1 daughter, Maria Welch; his sister-in-law, Sharon Bacon.<\/p>\n<p>He was married on August 11, 1985 to the former Deborah \u201cDebbie\u201d Jones who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are 1 daughter, Lisa Adkins of Rochester; 2 sons, Charles Bacon of Hornell and Daniel (Sally) Bacon of Hornell; his mother, Mildred \u201cMillie\u201d Bacon of Hornell; 7 Brothers, William (Carol) Bacon of Hornell, James Bacon of Hornell, Roy (Debbie) Bacon of Addison, Larry (Diane) Bacon of Hornell, Richard (Donna) Bacon of Hornell, Ronald (Wanda) Bacon of Corning and Philip (Joanie) Bacon of Corning; 1 sister, Elaine Bacon of Smoking Dam, PA; 13 grandchildren; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Charles F. \u201cCharlie\u201d Bacon will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0\u00a0 A Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 1:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.<\/p>\n<p>Memorial contributions in Charlie\u2019s name may be made to a charity of the donor\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Charles F. \u201cCharlie\u201d Bacon \u2013 67\u2013 of 174 East Ave., Hornell, died early this morning (Monday, April 18, 2011) at St. James Mercy Hospital, following a long illness.
