Arkport, NY\u00a0 \/\u00a0 Fremont, NY<\/p>\n
Margaret A. Callahan \u2013 74 \u2013 of State Route 21, Arkport, NY (Town of Fremont) died unexpectedly Monday afternoon (April 10, 2023) at her home.<\/p>\n
Born in North Hornell on March 29, 1949, she was the daughter of Lawrence & Arlene (King) Callahan.<\/p>\n
Margaret grew up in Fremont and was a graduate of Arkport Central School (class of 1967).\u00a0 Following high school graduation, she attended Alfred State College where she studied secretarial science and stenography.\u00a0 Margaret later graduated from Alfred University where she eventually earned her Master\u2019s Degree in Education.<\/p>\n
She was employed for a time at Canisteo Central School where she taught several business courses and for several years Margaret was employed as a professor, teaching business courses at Alfred State College.\u00a0 She eventually retired from teaching to take care of her parents.<\/p>\n
Margaret was a self-proclaimed \u201cHome Body\u201d who enjoyed reading (especially novels) and watching her favorite TV shows.<\/p>\n
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Callahan.<\/p>\n
Surviving are her brother, Lawrence \u201cLarry\u201d (Claire) Callahan of Clay, NY; 2 nephews, Paul Callahan and Michael Callahan; 1 niece, Kara Brooks.<\/p>\n
At Margaret\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with final interment in Fremont Cemetery.<\/p>\n
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n
Margaret\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to a charity of the donor\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n
