Hamilton \u2013 81 \u2013 of 71 Crescent St., Hornell, died Monday evening (May 23, 2011) at her home, following a long illness.<\/p>\n<p>A native &amp; life resident of Hornell, she was born June 18, 1929, and was the daughter of Albert &amp; Catherine (Ward) Kuhn.<\/p>\n<p>Rosemary was a graduate of St. Ann\u2019s School and later graduated from Hornell High School (class of 1947).\u00a0 While in high school, she worked at a local movie theater.\u00a0 Following graduation, she was employed as a telephone operator for New York Telephone for several years.<\/p>\n<p>She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a member of St. Ann\u2019s Church.\u00a0 Rosemary had also been a member of the Hornell Moose Lodge and the Hornell Association.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Rosemary truly enjoyed the company of others.\u00a0 She loved to entertain family &amp; friends and had an \u201copen kitchen\u201d policy where she would cook for those who were feeling \u201cdown\u201d or simply lonely.\u00a0 She was quick to offer a meal and\/or conversation to anyone who stopped by her home.\u00a0 She will be remembered as a \u201chomebody\u201d whose love for others was boundless!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her favorite time of the year was the Fall Season.\u00a0 Rosemary enjoyed simply being outdoors raking leaves or sweeping the sidewalk.\u00a0 In her later years, she also enjoyed the company of her cats.<\/p>\n<p>Rosemary was married on November 19, 1955 to Wesley Hamilton who died June 24, 1996.\u00a0 She was also preceded in death by her son, John Hamilton who died January 2, 1996; 4 sisters, Sister Alberta Kuhn, Sister Veronica Kuhn, Eunice Criss and Catherine Almeter.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are 4 daughters, Ann Marie Hamilton of Hudson Falls, NY, Patricia (Ethan) Allen of Jacksonville, NC, Maria (Dan) Stiles of Hornell and Christine (Don) White of New Berlin, NY; 2 sons, Mike (Lisa) Hamilton of Alfred Station and Joseph (Jennifer) Hamilton of Charlotte, NC; 1 sister, Angelina Devlin of North Hornell; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Rosemary L. Hamilton will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 PM \u2013 7:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.\u00a0 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Ann\u2019s Church with burial in the VA Cemetery, Bath, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Rosemary\u2019s family request that memorial contributions in her name be made to Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 East Corning Road, Corning, NY14830 or to Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Dr., Hornell, NY 14843.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rosemary L.
