Carlyle A. \u201cStoney\u201d Stone \u2013 83 \u2013 of 127 West William St., Bath, died Saturday evening (April 14, 2024) at his home, following a long illness.<\/p>\n
Born in Towanda, PA on May 10, 1940, he was the son of William & Sylvina (Crayton) Stone.<\/p>\n
Stoney grew up in Pennsylvania where he graduated from high school. He was an
\n11\u00bd year Veteran of the US Army, serving his country during the Vietnam Conflict.<\/p>\n
He was employed as a truck driver, primarily driving throughout New York State and Pennsylvania. Stoney enjoyed visiting various restaurants and, in his younger years, was an avid bowler.<\/p>\n
Carlyle had been married to his first wife, Jean, who died about 30 years ago. He was also preceded in death by his step-son, Kevin Frisbie.<\/p>\n
He was married on January 17, 1998 to the former Kay Arleen Thompson who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, Carlyle \u201cEd\u201d (Jovelyn) Stone and Stephen (Brenda) Stone; 3 step-children, Deanna Frisbie, Dana Furlong and Fred Frisbie; along with several other family members.<\/p>\n
At Carlyle\u2019s request there will be no calling hours. A private Memorial Service will be held at the Bath National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.<\/p>\n
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n
Carlyle\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to the Bath VA Medical Center Activities Fund, 76 Veterans Ave., Bath, NY 14810<\/p>\n
