Howe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hornell, New York<\/p>\n<p>Arlene L. Howe &#8211; 75 \u2013 of Portland, MI, formerly of Hornell, passed away peacefully at the Niche Assisted Living Facility of Clare, MI.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Corning, NY on February 29, 1948, she was the daughter of Richard &amp; Virginia (Hollar) Schaumberg.<\/p>\n<p>Arlene was a lifelong resident of Hornell, N.Y. before moving to Portland, MI. in 2018 to be closer to her family. She was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1967).<\/p>\n<p>She was united in marriage to Lewis Howe in 1968, and together they enjoyed thirty-seven years of marriage until the time of Lewis\u2019 passing on August 24, 2005.<\/p>\n<p>While living in Hornell, Arlene was employed at McDonald\u2019s Restaurant for about 5 years; served as a nurse\u2019s aide at the Hornell Gardens Nursing Facility for 10 years; as well as a cashier at Wal-Mart. However she took her greatest pride in her role as a homemaker for her family.<\/p>\n<p>Arlene enjoyed crocheting and baking (especially her famous raisin bread) and she was an avid collector of antique porcelain dolls and other \u201cKnick-Knacks.\u201d She had a love for all animals, but those that knew her best, knew her greatest love of all was time spent with her sons and grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Howe, her parents Richard and Virginia Schaumberg, sister in-law Jennifer Luther, her in-laws Jenny and Paul Warriner, and Dan and Ruth King.<\/p>\n<p>Arlene is survived by her two sons John (Yvette) Howe of Portland, MI. and Paul Howe of East Butler, PA; her grandchildren Brittney, Kailyn, Logan, Brendan, Tyler, Cheyenne, Alyssa, and Nicholas. Other survivors include her brothers-in-law Donald (Patty) Howe and Leo Luther; sisters-in-law Margaret (David) Kashorck, Rita Smith, and Denise (Robert) Whitney; and several nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n<p>At Arlene\u2019s request there were no calling hours. A private graveside service was held at the Hornell-Rural Cemetery.<\/p>\n<p>Local arrangements were in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Arlene\u2019s family request that memorial contributions in her name be made to the charity of the donor\u2019s choice.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit www.dagonfuneralhome.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hornell, New York Arlene L.
