Nichols"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-709\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=709\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-709\" title=\"Wilson Nichols Photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Wilson-Nichols-Photo1-250x271.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"271\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Wilson-Nichols-Photo1-250x271.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Wilson-Nichols-Photo1-200x217.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Wilson-Nichols-Photo1.jpg 837w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>Wilson F. \u201cWillie\u201d Nichols \u2013 71 \u2013 of 6256 County Route 29, Hornell, died unexpectedly early Monday morning (July 4, 2011) at his home.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on July 27, 1939, he was the son of Walter &amp; Mabel (Davies) Nichols.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson was a lifelong resident of the Hornell \u2013 Canisteo area and attended school in Hornell.\u00a0 He was considered a \u201cJack of All Trades\u201d and had worked for several construction companies, including Hornell Construction Co.\u00a0 Years ago, he also owned &amp; operated his own backhoe business.<\/p>\n<p>When his health permitted, Willie enjoyed deer hunting.\u00a0 His true love, however, was simply spending time with his family.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Wilson was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Smith; his half-brother, Raymond Miner; and his great-granddaughter, Alana Rose Simms.<\/p>\n<p>He was married on March 19, 1965 to the former Lana Ross who survives.\u00a0 Also surviving are 3 daughters, Sue (Michael) Rumsey of Savona, Ella (Tim) Grimm of Hornell and Lorraine (Rich Lowe) Hethcox of Hornell; 2 sons, Wilson \u201cWillie\u201d (April Myers) Nichols of Hornell and Nicholas \u201cNick\u201d (Laura Chatfield) Nichols of Hornell; his \u201cother son\u201d, Billy Grimm of Hornell; 2 brothers, Kenny (Janet) Nichols of Hornell and Leon (Judy) Nichols of Florida; his half-sister, Helen Miner; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>The family of Wilson F. Nichols will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY, where a Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson\u2019s family request that memorial contribution in his name be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220.\u00a0 Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.<a rel=\"attachment wp-att-708\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?attachment_id=708\"><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wilson F. \u201cWillie\u201d Nichols \u2013 71 \u2013 of 6256 County Route 29, Hornell, died unexpectedly early Monday morning (July 4, 2011) at his home.
