In later years, he enjoyed playing the accordion and loved entertaining at local nursing homes &amp; senior centers.\u00a0 Never one for watching TV, he could always be found reading mysteries, and anything relating to WWII. Later in life he adopted his wife&#8217;s fondness for cats and offered a safe haven for many.<\/p>\n<p>He was married on August 29, 1957, to the former Sandra Beach who died February 11, 2017.\u00a0 In addition to his wife, Ted was predeceased by his son, Lee Thompson.<\/p>\n<p>Ted is survived by his son, David Thompson of Hollis, ME; one daughter, Michele (Michael) Paige of Hollis, ME; two brothers, Larry (Karen) Thompson of Canaseraga and Kenneth (Susie) Thompson of Arkport; five nephews, Chad Hayes, Ian (Melissa) Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Daniel Thompson and Andrew Thompson; one niece, Michelle Hayes.<\/p>\n<p>At Ted\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY 14843.<\/p>\n<p>Ted\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to Cozy Cats &amp; Kittens Sanctuary, C\/O Elizabeth Oliver, 80 Seneca St, Hornell, NY 14843 or to the Marjorie Dieter Mastin Historical Society, P.O Box 93, Canaseraga, NY 14822.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit www.dagonfuneralhome.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canaseraga, New York Theodore L. \u201cTed\u201d Thompson \u2013 (87) \u2013 formerly of 1505 County Road 13C Canaseraga, NY (Town of Burns) died, peacefully Saturday afternoon(September 28, 2024) at Elderwood at Hornell Nursing Facility where he had resided for the past six years.
