{"id":7329,"date":"2024-11-30T16:01:14","date_gmt":"2024-11-30T21:01:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=7329"},"modified":"2024-12-16T19:33:06","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T00:33:06","slug":"james-l-jim-congdon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=7329","title":{"rendered":"James L. &#8220;Jim&#8221; Congdon"},"content":{"rendered":"<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7372\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/James-Congdon-Photo-250x348.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"348\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/James-Congdon-Photo-250x348.jpeg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/James-Congdon-Photo-200x279.jpeg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/James-Congdon-Photo.jpeg 389w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Hornell, New York<\/p>\n<p>James L. \u201cJim\u201d Congdon \u2013 71 \u2013 of Catherine St., Hornell, died Friday afternoon (November 29, 2024) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester where he was transported by ambulance after being stricken at home.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Hornell on April 25, 1953, he was the son of James &amp; Jacqueline \u201cJackie\u201d Congdon.<\/p>\n<p>Jim grew up in Hornell and attended St. Ann\u2019s School.\u00a0 He later graduated from Hornell High School (class of 1971).\u00a0 He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving his country from 1971-1973.<\/p>\n<p>He was employed for several years as a machine repair technician at Kodak Corporation in Rochester and for over 15 years served as a machine repair technician at Philips Lighting in Bath, NY, retiring about 9 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Jim had been a member of the Hornell VFW, Hornell American Legion and the Hornell Moose Lodge.\u00a0 He was a \u201cProud Grandpa\u201d to his two grandchildren and loved driving his \u201cSlingshot\u201d motorcycle and spending time with his \u201ccanine companions\u201d (dogs).<\/p>\n<p>As a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan, Jim loved the Super Bowl years and loved the way the team is back to their winning ways.\u00a0 He even showed his support of the Bills by having B Bills as his license plate on his motorcycle.\u00a0 He also loved spending time at his campsite on Keuka Lake.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim &amp; Jackie Congdon; and his nephew, Joseph Pollizi.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his son, Gregory Congdon Woodworth of Spencerport, NY; 2 grandchildren, Justice &amp; Chase; 4 brothers, Fran Congdon of Florida, Mike (Kathy) Congdon of Georgia, Dan (Kim) Congdon of Hornell; Mark (Bettyann) Congdon of Pennsylvania; 5 sisters, Cindy (Doug) France of Bishopville, Kelly (Mike) Pollizi of Hornell, Bobbi Congdon of Hornell, Sandra (Michael) Marion of Hornell and\u00a0 Kathleen (Elmer) Smith of Hornell; many nieces, nephews and numerous other family members.<\/p>\n<p>At Jim\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 A Memorial Service with military honors will be held at the Bath National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.<\/p>\n<p>Family &amp; friends are invited to a \u201cCelebration of Life\u201d to be held on Friday (December 20, 2024) from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Hornell VFW.\u00a0 All are welcome!<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY<\/p>\n<p>Jim\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to the Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY\u00a0 14843.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit www.dagonfuneralhome.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hornell, New York James L. \u201cJim\u201d Congdon \u2013 71 \u2013 of Catherine St., Hornell, died Friday afternoon (November 29, 2024) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester where he was transported by ambulance after being stricken at home.
