Woodworth \u2013 68 \u2013 of 5425 State Route 36, Canisteo, NY, died unexpectedly after a brief illness, peacefully in his sleep, Sunday morning (January 19, 2025) in the home with his family.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Elizabeth City, NC on February 20, 1956, he was the son of Herman &amp; Margie (Fipps) Woodworth and the stepson of Muriel Woodworth.<\/p>\n<p>Roy was a resident of the Hornell-Canisteo area for most of his life and attended school in Hornell.\u00a0 He later became a certified electrician through the BOCES Program.<\/p>\n<p>A full-time resident of Canisteo for the past 22 years, Roy was a \u201cJack-Of-All-Trades\u201d and was a self-employed handyman with skills as an electrician, carpenter &amp; mechanic, working throughout the Hornell-Canisteo area.<\/p>\n<p>A true outdoorsman, Roy enjoyed camping &amp; fishing.\u00a0 He had a deep affection for all animals and a huge passion for wolves.\u00a0 He actually once owned a wolf-husky mix.<\/p>\n<p>Roy was a caring, selfless man who enjoyed being surrounded by family &amp; friends.\u00a0 He enjoyed \u201cHolding Court\u201d every morning while having coffee with his friends at Billy Schu\u2019s Restaurant.\u00a0 His happiest moments, however, were those spent celebrating family, especially his grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his parents &amp; step-mother, Roy was preceded in death by his daughter, Rene Acor-Rice; his brother, Benjamin \u201cBenny\u201d Woodworth; his brother-in-law, Kenny Smith; and his sister-in-law, Terri Woodworth.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his children, Greg (Bambi) Acor of Melbourne, FL, Christopher (Jesseca) Acor of Canisteo, Lorena Dudley of Hornell and Roy Woodworth Jr. of Florida; 2 brothers, Luther \u201cEugene\u201d Woodworth of Wichita Falls, TX and Herman (Jeanne Baruth) Woodworth of Myrtle Beach, SC; 3 sisters, Gracie Mae Woodworth Norris Young of Nakina, NC, Annie Pearl Woodworth of Whiteville, NC and Paula Smith of Canisteo; 18 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews &amp; cousins.<\/p>\n<p>At Roy\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 A Memorial Service will be held Monday, January 27, 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Canisteo Wesleyan Church.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Roy\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to the Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY 14843.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit www.dagonfuneralhome.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canisteo, New York Roy L.
