{"id":7445,"date":"2025-01-26T09:33:22","date_gmt":"2025-01-26T14:33:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=7445"},"modified":"2025-02-03T19:04:50","modified_gmt":"2025-02-04T00:04:50","slug":"james-m-jim-burns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/?p=7445","title":{"rendered":"James M. \u201cJim\u201d Burns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7461\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/James-Burns-Photo-250x358.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/James-Burns-Photo-250x358.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/James-Burns-Photo-200x286.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.dagonfuneralhome.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/James-Burns-Photo.jpg 347w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Hornell, New York<\/p>\n<p>James M. \u201cJim\u201d Burns \u2013 60 \u2013 of 111Thacher St., Hornell, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning (January 25, 2025).<\/p>\n<p>Born in Lock Haven, PA on November 6, 1964, he was the son of James &amp; Nellie (Geyer) Burns.<\/p>\n<p>Jim grew up in Pennsylvania and resided in Lock Haven, PA and Gelton, PA before moving to the Hornell area over 30 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the years, he had been employed at several area businesses including the former Big Elms Restaurant, Morrison Knudson (MK), Alstom and for many years has served as a maintenance man &amp; dish washer at JC\u2019s Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Jim was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting (both small game &amp; deer) and also fly fishing in streams.\u00a0 He also loved the time he spent 4-wheeling.\u00a0 He was an avid Pittsburg Steelers Football fan and had a deep affection for animals &#8212; especially his dogs &amp; cats.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim &amp; Nellie Burns; his daughter, Trish Lennette Burns; and his sister, Paula Burns.<\/p>\n<p>Surviving are his longtime companion, Elizabeth \u201cLiz\u201d Price McMinds; 2 sons, James E. Burns of Friendship, NY and Brandon (Chris) Burns of Mt. Morris, NY; his daughter, Kirsten (Justin Bauter) Price of Hornell; his sister, Linda Burns of Pennsylvania; 4 grandchildren, Bryson, Trevor, Willow &amp; Hera; along with several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n<p>At Jim\u2019s request there will be no calling hours.\u00a0 At \u201cCelebration of Life\u201d will be held at a place, date &amp; time to be announced.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.<\/p>\n<p>Jim\u2019s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to \u201cCozy Cats &amp; Kittens\u201d 80 Seneca St., Hornell, NY\u00a0 14843.<\/p>\n<p>To leave an online condolence or share a memory, visit www.dagonfuneralhome.com.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hornell, New York James M. \u201cJim\u201d Burns \u2013 60 \u2013 of 111Thacher St., Hornell, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning (January 25, 2025).
